Hello Everyone!
Today I am bring the good news of another TAW Company of Heroes tournament. With the news of the new CoH 2 coming out in early 2013, the officers and myself have decided to host a 2v2 tournament to give our players a challenge and an incentive for training.
You may ask, "Why should I join a tournament?" Well, this tournament has a reward. Though it is not the size of one of GameReplay's rewards, it is still a reward. This reward is: $10 USD in Steam credits.
If you would like to be interested in joining the tournament or learning some more about it, check out our forum post: http://taw.net/forums/t/5862.asp
There you can register your team and get put onto the roster.
Did I mention there is also another reason to join this tournament? No? Well, the winner of the TAW side of the tournament goes on to compete with the winner of the FoG (Federation of Gamers) side of the tournament (They don't get a reward though, so don't tell them). :D
If you have any questions, feel free to message me at Bradx@taw.net
Thanks!
- Brad
His name is QuagmireNL.
He's a 24 year-old from Holland ranked in the top 500 players in the World of Relics and, for the time being at least, he is the best 1v1 Company of Heros player in TAW. The four year CoH veteran joined The Art of Warfare around a year and a half ago when Coolhaidar recruited him into the division's Vanguard efforts. Since then he has used is skills as a sniper to achieve success on the field of battle time and time again, culminating in his victory during the TAW Company of Heros 1v1 Tournament.
For now, QuagmireNL stands as the champion of TAW, but he will soon have to defend that title as new challengers and new tournaments are on the horizon.
Can you beat him?
Well, the time has come. For the first time the automated system has reset the scoreboard! So far, apart from one change due to a mistake, the whole scoreboard has been managed by the script and it seems to be in working order. Of course there will be a few more functions coming to make it easier to keep track and more understandable to whoever will end up managing it after me (I cannot guarantee a full time upkeep of the damn thing!).
So the scoreboard is all back to zeroes. Do not worry the data isn't gone and the system automatically notifies the Division Commander and Division Officer about the top 5 players on the scoreboard (even though it is the top 3 positions that get rewarded) upon resetting the scoreboard as it did at 2011-11-01 00:32:14 according to GMT+3
So without further adoo I would like to congratulate the first winners:
Good luck in the next round! Show everyone that you can climb to the top of the ladder!
Don't forget to look at the Company of Heroes wiki for the rules (which can also be found on the TAW CoH website) and awards!
Good news! The Mash-up ladder is live! The scoreboard is up, the dice are working and the form is also there! All you need to do is head over to the hosting website. You can find the link in the Competition and Creation office on Teamspeak as well as our unit wiki pages.
I strongly recommend that before starting you read over the information material provided on the same website so as to avoid any confusion.
The scoreboard will be reset every month and the top players rewarded. There is also a reward for having consecutive wins!
Have fun and play to your hearts content!
The day is finally here!
I have managed to work out most of the bugs and get the system working. As of now to the extent that I have tested the script will properly get the stamps and mark games automatically, notifying of any win streaks etc.
All that is left now is to update the information on the website. The scoreboard and form are live, however I would like to ask that you refrain from using them for the time being until the green light is given. I expect to do this as soon as I get home, but for now I must leave you with the preview of my work. The website link should be available in Teamspeak, on our competition and creative office.
See you one the battlefield soon my fellow commanders!

Hey, it's me again. Well, didn't have all that much time to work under the hood of the mash-up ladder, however I did make some progress!
Finally got another part of the system working according to the new database which will now also gather how often you play. So the 2 games per 24 hours rule will be enforced automatically. Only thing is, I need to make the counter-measure that will not let you get the points for the additional game. I am looking into a few different variants, but this shouldn't take too long and it appears that I can make my own deadline! Not telling you what it is, but you probably know when I expect to get it out.
So what's left on the to-do list?
As you can see the end is near! As promised I am aiming to make this as automated as possible so this can hold up for however long the game will be played with minimal human interference.
Just giving a heads up. The script is running well thus far. It's becoming even more complicated now that it has more data points to handle (which all interact I might add). Right now I need to do a few more things. That is to update some parts of the script to incorporate the new data points and make sure they are handled correctly. The other thing I need to do is connect some parts of the script and automate the process. It appears that Google apps prefer to continue irritating me and thus the longest period of resetting the scoreboard automatically it allows is 1 week and as such I will need to create another part of code that will increase this (Why Google? Why?)
As you are probably aware the ladder is suspended. This is because I needed to make several severe tweaks in the script that runs behind the damn thing. As well as properly set it into a separate website. Probably will put some information about all that in the wiki, but for now let's concentrate on what I wanted to say.
The changes are mainly meant to allow me to transfer that monstrosity to someone without the fear that it will be broken if someone looks at it (and someone at some point perhaps will need to if this is a success and continues). However there are but few more waiting. Here's the future for the ladder:
It might not seem like much, but it takes a bit of work and fiddling arround with the database to get it working right. Don't worry if you by accident receive some e-mails about the ladder from the system, just means that while working I forgot to deactivate some lines in the code
Hey guys, just a quick blog about the upcoming 2v2 competition. So far (7-september) we have 4 teams signed up and I'm expecting more in the coming 3 weeks. On the 26th of September signing up will close and we will kick off the very first season.
You can find all of the rules in this thread: click!
Get a team together and sign up, teams from outside the COH division can also join. Tell everyone in your division about the upcoming competition and to sign up.
GL in the competition.

Due to certain changes being implemented and moving the whole thing to a website all scores might get reset a few times. This is needed in order to efficiently make sure the whole script works and requires as little input from anyone else. I would like to ask everyone to be patient.
The model I am aiming for is that the scoreboard will reset every month and the top players will be rewarded. Perhaps commendations will even be awarded more regularly so that everyone gets to jump in at any point without the feeling of being left behind.
Well there is still a lot to do. But we got the basic dice working again. Now we shall be hosting everything on a separate website. There you will be able to access the submission form as well.
You can find the link in the "Competition and creative office" on TS
So, we have transferred to TAW 2.0. Very nice to see everything working fine. Except that not everything is working on our end!
Sadly our TAW CH Mash-up Ladder pages can't be transferred here in any easy way. While the scoreboard and the form are fully intact, the Dice aren't working as expected. Because of this I have started working on this tool to make it work again and will get back at you as soon as it's done! I am nearly done, however there are a few hiccups with the way I am trying to go around doing it.
However in between my tinkering around with this little system there are things I need to pay attention on the TAW 2.0 website as well with various division administrating things. As such I cannot say how long this will take.
In the meanwhile, check out the nicely done TAW 2.0, play a few games and enjoy the last (half) week of the Summer!
