It's a new year and the Vanguard News Train is leaving the station. With the holiday’s season behind us, VG looks forward to a bright new year. For Honor is having a beta weekend later this month on the 26 though the 29. We are planning to have a spin up team in place before then. If you interested in joining a For Honor team please fill out this form. Everyone strap on your helmets, and set your phasers to awesome, because Star Citizen (SCZ) is back. SCZ is our newest addition to the VG family. We expect For Honor to join later this month.

Hello Star Citizens, and those of you who aren’t citizens yet. My name is Zenmire and this is my second time as SUL of SCZ. I was part of the original spinup team that started back in 2015. I took over the team when the SUL had to leave TAW for real life reasons, and ran the team until we closed it down in 2016. With patch 3.0 coming soon, and Star Marine release, we have decide to bring the game back into TAW. For more information about upcoming content check links below.
What is Star Citizen? Star Citizen is a kickstarter project created by Chris Roberts. The game was expected to be a sequel to the popular Wing Commander series. As more money keep pouring in they increased the scope of the game. Today the game has raised over 141 million dollars and this number will be outdated before I post this blog. Star Citizen is two games in one. The first game is called Squadron 42. It will feature a single play experience similar to the Wing Commanders games of old. The second game will feature a persistent universe. Originally backers could both game types for one price, but now Squadron 42 (aka the single player story mode) is sold separately from the persistent universe. Is Star Citizen a first-person shooter, space simulator, RPG, etc? The answer is yes. This is a very short run down on Star Citizen. If I included everything this blog would be 3 or 4 pages long.
You can get a game package that puts you into the game today for 45 dollars US. The game is still currently in the Alpha stage. We currently have 3 modes of play. Arena commander which is a space combat simulator against the ai, or real players. It also features racing module. Next we have what is called the mini persistent universe. It is just as the name implies. Its one star system with a few bases you can land and get out of ship. On some of the star bases, you can find weapons and battle each other. Their are some quests you can do where the ai will come in and attack you. The final mode of play currently available to players is Star Marine. Its a fps game featuring 2 maps and 2 game types. The first game mode is a 12 vesus 12 control point game, and the other is a free for all.
Our mandatory is on Saturday at 3 pm est 8 pm gmt. We will run one tournament a month to see who is the best at the different aspects of the game. Generally, we focus on the newest content released. So right now that is Star Marine. Once all the members have transferred in and we start to get some recruits, I plan to have weekly practices. The date/time of these practice events are not yet determined. We hope to see you all in the Verse.

With the launch of Escape from Tarkov and Warframe at the end of 2016, Vanguard was able surpass the previous record set of 14 games launched in a year (set while Kingcheese & Wardy were VG CC in 2013) and set a new record of 16 games. It is a phenomenal achievement which was only possible through the dedication and willingness of the VG staff and the TAW members who made the commitment and stepped up as SULs to lead a team. Therefore whilst Vanguard can feel justly proud of what has been achieved in 2016, it is only right that those members who were SULs are recognized for their efforts. On that basis it it is with great pleasure that the specially made Record Breaker tab is awarded to the following former SUL staff of the teams launched in 2016.
