This game would be excellent for Taw . Good comp level game play takes talent and is very well structured. Balance is pretty fair and Gameplay is excellent. I could see where this game would bring alot to Taw.
Thanks
Smush
It could indeed work for TAW.
Takes teamwork to play this game.
But, theres still some major issues with the balancing on the classes from my point of view.
Heavy classes, to take an example, are way too weak considering their low mobility, and the Juggernauts Fusion Mortar deals too little damage.
But its still in Beta, so it can be changed still.
Edit: The game itself works a bit like World of Tanks, in form of XP and buyable gold etc. Additionally, you earn tokens in battles, wich allow you to purchase a new class, or you can buy gold and use that, to purchace the class of your choice.
The XP is used to upgrade your classes with additional ammo, damage and radius. Each class have 2 perks that can be unlocked, through the XP system. For example, the medium class Range, can unlock a perk that gives you 20% health and energy when you pick up ammo drops.
You know - I thought I was the only one who thought that the Pathfinder's Spinfusor does way too much damage for a "Light Spinfusor" and that Heavy Armor's like the Juggernaut felt more like enlarged Medium Armors. I do agree that the mortar does too little damage - what it REALLY needs is a BIGGER blast radius. The Nova could use a new sound aside from the *pew pew pew* thing that I normally just laugh about. Ranger's Thumper RXD is just WAY THE *@$% OP compared to other weapons - yes it has a maximum range of about 100m or so - but good lord its like noob tube's galore on COD - main reason why I don't play COD - it just turns into tube matches.
Heavies need more damage resistance, Mortar and the Juggernaut and Brute Spinfusor damage could use a boost as well. Why be a big *** target doing the same amount of damage as a Pathfinder who is tiny in size by comparison and can move 20x faster than you can. Other things like the Infiltrator's pistol having a massive range damage as well as its SMG - I'm being outshot by these guys who are cloaked about 300m away and pick me off with 3 or 4 shots at that range and I can't hit them for snot with the Sentinel's Marksman Rifle? What jokery is that? Max out the pistol and SMG's effective range peeps - AND BRING BACK MY SATCHEL CHARGE!!!!
- You will never see it coming - until it hits you!
Untill the recent patch, Infiltrators were close to unbeatable with the right perks.
Thank god, they nerfed them.
The thing with them is, there is no effective way to break their stealth. Even a jammer doesnt... And when they shoot, sure, you can see them somewhat, but its half-visible only and that is very hard in dark areas, specially if theres alot of players.
The mortar got a upgrade that allows for bigger blast radius, so thats not what im concerned about. The damage is like a thumper, thats been upgraded. THAT is where my concern is.
Now, the pathfinders spinfusor is one thing. Their homing-missile grenades that thrust flags out of FC's hands, are way more brutal..
I remember in Tribes 2, a heavy could stand his ground against 2-4 opponents indoors. Now he is lucky if he can take 2 ..
Actually Hi- RezKate told me that the balance issue will be taken care of. theres a new patch every week so there working Hard on the Heavy assualt. I played alot last night and I find the juggernaut seems to be fair well balance but the other classes are way off. only one light class is balance right but the game is still in beta.
Tribes platform is realy good for comp. Gives the player alot of non-liner progression. But there are alot of noobs that have never played tribes. Learning curve is a little high but not any higher than ETQW.
The juggernaut is probably the least balanced, of the heavy classes there is, atm.
Its the one with the lowest armor density and lowest damage output.
The Doombringer rips a jugger in seconds, any time. And personally, i eat juggers for breakfest with pathfinder, technician, ranger, you name it.
The only way i get a decent game with a jugger, if is im dedicated to stand on high ground and bombard, or hide underground and do nade/spinfusor combo's.
Oh, and a infiltrator can 2 hit a jugger, even after the latest patch where infiltrators got nerfed.
I've sort of had mixed issues with the Infiltrator's and Juggs. I have an 18/18 Jugg myself with 10k exp points to spare but that is from doing a lot of HO runs. And I'll be the first to admit that I get frustrated as nuts when a pathfinder comes speeding along and two hits me with a "light spinfusor" while the Mk. whatever it is that the Jugg carries is simply not as damaging to a Pathfinder. As far as the Infiltrator I've had even worse ons and offs. I never seem to be able to duplicate the 2 shot kills with the pistol or staying in an area that I can effectively stay cloaked in - battling OTHER people who play as infiltrators seem to be nearly invincible...
I noticed that they added some static force fields in place of trap doors..... I think I like it :D
I like my juggernaught, seem to do pretty well with it, especially on CTF.

After getting the super heavy perk, its increased its value quite a bit. I always enjoyed playing it, i was and still am, frustrated that its so fragile in early stages.
Tribes Ascend Beta got one HECK of an update today - goodies make me grin ear to ear. :D
technician is pretty boss though like double trouble with the turrets and a awsome smg togo withit. it has trip mines and a grenade launcher to match
tribes ascend is a awsome game the guns are great the classes are great and i am not asking for much just a couple of skins for classes such as the sentinel pathfinder and technician and a decrease in the xp point cost as some people simply can't affored it, arn't allowed to purchase online or don't know how. i am a tribes player my self and love the game butis this really to much to ask.
p.s
if anyone wants to friend me on tribes my name is caboose19997
