Just hop into the TS and message someone from there, they should be able to drag you down to the Anthem channel.

I'm curious to hear what people thought of the demo! I thought that it felt great to play. I picked colossus for most of my play time, and it was just very satisfying to stomp around blasting things with fire and lighting.  I have some concerns with mechanics (underwater travel!) and worry the missions might end up being a bit repetitive. But other than that I'm very optimistic. Especially considering the demo is a 6 week old build.

How about the rest of you that played? Was it a hit or a miss for you?

@ Rathborn

My thoughts on the demo:

Well putting the server issues to the side as I expected these.

The game looked good visually, the whole experience was better than I expected.

It has taken all the best parts of  Warframe, Destiny and Diablo and put them into a nice package.

I really liked playing storm, something about being up that high while raining down dps made it feel really great and different from any game i have played in the past. Also with storm I was mainly always in the air.

When teamed with a colossus made it easier to play and more combos.

Doing the melee attack from up above high was great and did so much damage but you then had to get air born asap to get the Shields back up.

Only worry for the game is as you said it might get repetitive and I hope lvl 30 is not the max lvl

Roll on 22nd Feb till i get back into this.

BTW my origin is warlohn if anyone wants to add me for some groups in this game.

I played on PS4, I thought the game was great. Like Destiny, but with more variety since you can swap 'class' each mission

Max level is only 30 confirmed, but I do think there will be a wide variety of replayability with 3 difficulties past hard once you hit 30, and future story missions will be free.

They certainly have a long term plan for this.

They'll probably up the amount of xp needed to go unto the next level in the final version. Bioware had stated that the rate of xp gain were increased to match the duration and feel of a demo session. They also locked out a few mission variations in the demo, so hopefully whatever was locked out are good once we get out hands on it.

I did not have time to get into my VIP demo, but having watched gameplay from several prominent Youtubers and having read impressions from notable gaming journalists/pundits, I'm having good hope for the final product. I am curious about how grindy the final game will be though, and I'm going to keep an eye on the cosmetic microtransaction, since they lowered the prices of MTX for the demo (though the final cost of each cosmetic will be relatively similar to demo).

My biggest gripe regarding Anthem is technical issues. There were a lot of bugs, quite a bit of glitches, and EA's server performances are clearly lacking during this demo weekends. I know Bioware put out a press release saying they are aware of technical issues and are looking to resolve it for the open demo. But I do wonders, will they have enough time to smooth out a significant portion of them in time for the open demo (and the final game)? If people are having a hard time getting into the game or getting immersed in Anthem because of freezing, randomly disappearing enemies, or loss of in-game audio that requires a full restart of the game...it'll be a problem.

Gameplay mechanics, story, progression, loot drop amount, and world building (and graphic) in Anthem are pulling me further in. The gameplay mechanics are similar to ME Andromeda, and for all the issues MEA has, gameplay is not one of them. But technical issues are currently making me go "hold up, wait a minute" so far. An amazing game can go from a 10 to a 7 if players can't really go play. So I have high hope for Anthem, but I hope issues get ironed out in a reasonable pace.

Having played the Demo since Friday and previously, it had very good impressions on me.

The game is well built, with game-play taking center stage. Every javelin is well made, unique in its combat and style, and offers equal amount of fun and utility to the others. Playing with friends enhances an already good experience, which is always good. This game is definitely one that is better experienced personally than seen, as I saw many who didn't play it say it was something, only to revert back once they did actually play it. So for that, the game has solid foundations.

As for the loot, its wonderful. Grinding will definitely be something, and reaching a solid build with your javelin will take time, even more with 3 other javelins. Pushing technical issues aside, which can be expected from a game of such caliber and title, the game will definitely be something to put many hours into.

Regarding a few things brought up:

  1. The entire economy and balance was tweaked in the beta to match the short time we had with it. XP is scaled differently, and MTX were lowered as well as given some premium currency to allow us to purchase cosmetics. Keep in mind, there is nothing pay to win in this game, nor are there random lootboxes. This MTX system will follow one very similar to Titanfall 2. You will buy exactly what you see. Not only that, but everything you see can be bought with currency you earn playing the game.
  2. This game is based in the same genre of Action MMOs such as Destiny and Warframe, which are considered Loot-Based games. If you are worried about it getting repetitive....well, honestly don't know what to tell you. You will encounter similar missions as previous ones in structure. You will repeat certain missions/strongholds/contracts for better loot. That's the name of the game. Conquering GrandMaster difficulties and Elder Content will be the endgame, and for that, you will need the best gear, and for that, you will need to grind.
  3. On the other side, be mindful of your grind. Putting in 160 hours first week, and then complaining there isn't much to do won't help. Not that hardcore players won't have stuff to do, but be reasonable.

For the technical issues, I'm allowing myself a whole paragraph. This build of the game is 6 weeks old, with many of the bugs we encountered in it already fixed. Yes, it was called a Demo, but unfortunately, with today's console certification process, nothing can be immediate. You can read more about all the changes it has from the full launch here: VIP Demo Summary. I have yet, through almost 14 years of gaming, see a game that launches with multiplayer capabilities and not have issues, whether with a beta or full launch. Every game from WoW to BF to Anthem had them, and will continue to have them. The best that BioWare (or any Developer) can do is be 100% transparent, and upfront, which they have been doing with not only this VIP Update, posted on the 26th, but but throughout the entire weekend, via reddit, Twitter and more. The best we can do is provide that feedback, and be patient and understanding. And to iterate, There WILL be issues on launch, and perhaps issues post launch. Be warned before hand.

Also, as with all the games brought up by many, all were almost terrible in some way or another on launch. It was the community's passion and developer's hardwork that made them the great titles they are. Remember; Strong Alone, Stronger Together.

As always, check the first post to fill out the VG Interest Form if you wish to see this game in TAW. The OP has also been modified for the Open Demo.

Thanks for sharing that Alas. Good to hear that the version he played a week ago felt so much more polished!

Any one try PC, I loaded the Demo the first week, could not get passed the DirectX errors, second week, was a patch, finally got to play the game, was very slow in town, in game play better, only lasted about 10minutes till the game just shut down. I am hopping they will get it fixed by release, look like a great game, lots of bugs, but you got to start some where.

Happy gaming
