Well, Quag asked people who are interested in training to post in the forum, so count me in.
I'll be glad to have the opportunity to learn from someone who's been playing for a while, either 1v1 or how to play more effectively as part of a team.
I can show up a bit early to the training match this evening, or at a similar time tomorrow.
Great JonJon, you are our first guy to post who wants help. Since nobody is assigned to a TI,TS or XO yet I will be happy to help you out. First I'm gonna need to know what factions you want help with and what type of automatch. Save some replays and we can train on Thursdays or any other day it fits.
Grenadiers - "You're payed to kill, not dig trenches with your face!"
Don't forget that gamereplays is also a TREMENDOUS help to those looking for info. Be sure to check there occasionally.
Hi Quagmire, thanks for replying.
I usually play Americans, and it's the faction I'm looking to improve.
I played a few 3v3/4v4 games recently in which my team played well in the beginning, but I was unable to transition effectively to Tier 3 or 4 and we slowly got pushed back until we were overwhelmed by a tidal wave of vet3 grenadiers and tanks. I'll check if I have a replay when I get home - I might have saved one :)
Other than that, I'd be happy to try a few 1v1s just so you can get a feel for my level of ability, and suggest ways I could improve.
I'll know in about 5 hours or so if early tonight is better than tomorrow evening for me - I'll drop you a note here as soon as I have an answer - I hope that's ok with you.
Thanks again.
I wanna drop in on the US training aswell. Please keep me posted.
I think I've browsed through pretty much all of gamereplays' guides and strategies over the years :)
Hi Quagmire,
If you could make it this evening 1 hour before the training matches, that would be great. Should be 7:00 GMT unless I've got my timezones mixed up again.
I hope you can make it. In which channel should I look for you?
Thanks again,
JonJon
P.S. Eifer - it would be great to see you there as well.
8 GMT +1 for us here in central europe ^^
I will be there on time, just took a half day off work. We will only be covering 1v1, because this is the basis for all other game modes.
I'm gonna begin from the start with macro, then we will take it to micro, then army builds and finally reacting to your opponent and his builds.
Sounds great Quagmire.
I'm familiar with a lot of the theory surrounding the game, but I'm sure my execution needs improvement. It might be best if we jumped into a 1v1 game, or if there are 3 of us, then a 2v2 with 1 slot closed and one person acting as a passive observer of the game.
See you there!
Allright Jon, what we saw last training was that you had some good and some bad timing with your flanks for the Americans. Also you needed some work on your sniper micro, you can use the gridkeys for that or the normall way. Just make sure you use a control group and the hotkey for hold fire or attack move.
Now I want you to send me 1v1 replays where you begin with barracks and later get a sniper out. That way we can work on your sniper micro.
ill take some 1v1's with him, when i have the time.
I need to work with my sniper micro aswell.
Great! Sniper micro is a good way to improve your game. This can be a game changer.
Aye. Must say its a shame you didnt get a scr shot of your 58 kill sniper last night.
Hi Quagmire,First, thanks again for your time and your explanations. I will certainly concentrate on my sniper micro whenever I have the chance, and make sure to save the replays. As soon as I have some good examples, I will mail them to you. Also, double snipers (if I get the chance) will be fun to play :)
Eifer - I will be happy to practice with you if you want.
