i have this in theory for danger close CAS like A-10 dropping GAU-8 Bomb on that target above your head.
if someone was flying the a-10 and drop a GAU-8 on your lazer target(from lazer market) can you turn it off and run off when being fired from a-10 to the target or you have to lazer marker on?
Great question.
In my experience the laser must stay on target during the bombs the entire way down for the greatest accuracy, otherwise it continues to fall naturally, in a realistic unguided freefall through the air.
To answer your question more directly, consider the following scenario: Let's say you hold the laser on a danger close target for only half of the time the bomb has to fall. Depending on the angle, altitude, and direction of the approaching aircraft performing CAS, the bomb will only track towards the target during the time you held the laser on the target (or try to guide itself if the laser is kept on while you're running and bouncing it around!). In a danger close scenario where you need CAS, you'll have to hope your pilot is good enough to free drop (without the assistance of a laser designated) a bomb near you. This is not easy and takes a considerable amount of practice as you can imagine.
While it's completely within the possibilities for the ordinance to still hit the target (especially if it's static) with only a short time being guided by the laser, more often than not you'll find that the 'pickle' drops off target unless held on for the majority of it's ride. In the case of danger close or if someone is moving with their laser still on it has a high chance of hitting close enough to kill you or friendly units -- it's really a gamble at that point.
Now if this was only like real life where bombs could disarm themselves as a safety measure if they went too far off target...
yeah, i try it on different server someone close to danger about 50m from object it will guide on the lazer only. i dont know it can go off track like become unguilded
