Although the game is mostly about flying, it takes skill and much practice to play Flight Simulator X. I do not know if anyone has brought the idea up of trying to make a division for this game. The game is also not limited in the default airplanes and helicopters because you can make or add more. The community is still alive. You can think of many missions to go through, from airliner to search and rescue, or escort, or anything you can think of really. Sadly, their is no combat or dogfights, and i do not know any mods that add weapons, but they are possibly out there. I only know 2 people in TAW that play this game, excluding myself. It would be a good game to build upon. The game is not only about flying, their is also coordination and cooperation, the ATC or Air Traffic Control is also a role a player may play in a server. An important role, they make sure to keep the skies safe. With the use of realistic virtual computers, They assist in both ground and air operations.
The game is not limited to what i have said above. There is a lot more to the game, i dont want to type it all.
If anyone thinks this would be a good idea (or a bad idea), please reply and tell me what is your opinion.
I know of various people in TAW who have/had/do play FSX, myself I logged thosands of hours running my own Virtual Airline (VA) on VATSIM (Virtual Air Traffic Control Network) it's a highly professional organisation and when you find the right group of simmers they are some of the most hardcore 'gamers' you'll find.
Your right about the modding, we used aircraft models and flight systems designed directly from their real world counterparts. Along with direct of of the NATS phraseology book VATSIM sounds like your listening to actual frequency's
As for a division in TAW, FSX doesn't really work with combat, for the most part the challenge is weather and (with the right mods) making sure you don't damage your aircraft by putting it under stress.

Is their a mod that one can simulate combat maybe? I dont know much about air combat training, but i think their was a combat simulation where they attempt to lock on eachother, if you get locked for a certain amount of time, your dead.
I have no knowledge of any combat mods for FSX. if however you are looking for an aerial combat sim, wargaming has one which is currently under closed beta but you can apply.

127.0.0.1 sweet 127.0.0.1
Never heard of wargaming before. Still, Flight Simulator is a full game already. and could be build upon
Wargaming.net are indeed new in the gaming industry, they have only one fully released game as of yet - World of Tanks, that said, that single game has already won some of the most prestigious gaming awards (most players at one single time, golden joystick 2011 and more that I can't recall At the moment). World of Tanks also has a division right here in TAW, come visit us, we are just above Sentinal.
Flight simulator may very well be a fully established game, but it was never designed as a combat sim, the very base engine of the game might not be enough to imitate dog fights which are very fast paced.. I suggest you apply for the beta, this game is really worth the wait..
You can add other airplanes that are dogfight worthy. The default f/a-18 hornet is one of the military planes i enjoy flying. it is capable of simulated combat, not actual gunfire and missile launching. with add on you can also have. f 35 f 37 f 14 f15. there are ALOT of planes you can get. I forgot to mention, their is racing, using mustangs i beleive.
Also what Sav said, we can also create airlines
It would be worth getting a bunch of people interested to get onto a server one time, I'd be up for that.. Like I said you can use mods to up the realism and that's pretty fun - especially doing 'hops' between airports up a coastline in bad weather with an area traffic controller.
I have heard of a few mods like the one you are describing, how well developed they are I don't know. Like mentioned above FSX was never intended to involve combat.
Another fun thing to do is to use the FA-18's and launch them off the Aircraft Carriers near Honolulu International Airport and try to land back on them using the cables
yes! i love carrier operations. there are also add ons that add carriers on the map. not just to be in honolulu
It may be a great game for aviation enthusiasts but does it have the fan base to enable TAW to build up a team. Additionally is there enough content to enable team play?
