The Vanguard (VG) Division is not like other divisions within The Art of Warfare (TAW). It is a place where new and potential games are scouted, tested and evaluated to become full divisions in. Some people may consider the games or like we call them ‘teams’ in VG to have their training wheels on. We like to think of VG as a staging area for new divisions to be built; from the ground up.

New teams that form within VG to play games are built up, not down. By this we mean, when a team first starts, we do not assign any leadership positions. The only positions that do get assigned within the teams first few weeks of creation is the Drill Instructors positions. After a few practices then a couple of squad leader may be assigned. It’s all based upon that persons involvement in the team and the game.

Team Formation Guidelines

These guidelines are set forth by the Vanguard Chain of Command, and must be followed in order to create, maintain a "Team" in the Vanguard Division. This is the birth place for new games coming into TAW. These guidelines are in place to create a solid foundation for the up and coming Division.

PHASE I:

Phase I begins with the very basics of creating a Team in (VG). All three requirements must be met before a game can begin in (VG).

Basic guide lines for Team creation in TAW: VG:

- Game must be released within 1 month of Team creation or earlier.

- Team must consist of a minimum of 4 members. Those members can be recruits and/or current TAW members.

- Game must have a multiplayer function.

PHASE II:

Phase II consists of the operational requirements that a Team must follow once the Team is formed.

Standard Operating Procedures for current Teams within TAW:VG:

- Teams must have a minimum of 2 hours of practice each week.

- It is up to the team members to decide what will be done for practice.

- It is up to the team members to run bootcamps for new recruits.

- Teams are encouraged to create a fun environment.

- Teams are encouraged to recruit in and out of the game.

PHASE III:

Phase III is the last phase before a Team in VG becomes a Division. In order for a Team to be considered for the Division title the Team must meet the following requirements.

Basic guide lines for teams to leave VG and become their own division.

- Teams are required to have a minimum of 20 active members within 6 months of team creation.

- Teams are required to have a current and stable command staff in place prior to leaving VG.

- Teams are required to be completely independent of VG staff.

- Teams are required to have a minimum of one paid server (game permitting) prior to leaving VG.

Vanguard Management Positions

1.) Vanguard Task Force Commander [VG TC]

  • The Vanguard Task Force Commander (TC) is essentially the same as a Division Commander. He/she is responsible for everyone and every team within VG. He/she will research new games, test, and decide if the game is suitable for the structure of TAW, is there a current community for the game, find out who is interested in game and who is willing to start a team. This is only to name of few things.

2.) Vanguard Task Force Deputy Commander [VG TDC]

  • The Task Force Deputy Commander does all the same as listed above, but will interact more directly with the teams is making sure everything is running smoothly. At any point the TC is unable to attend a meeting or is away for any length of time, the TDC will take over command and act in the best interest of division and/or team and/or teams. The TDC will assist the TC with important decisions and/or tasks to help keep the division running smoothly.

All games in Vanguard are encourage to create and update their unit page which is located to left of the Vanguard Pages.
