TAW values the contributions of all it's members, and has several unique ways to recognize members.
Every award in TAW has a special page in the Information Wiki (members only) that gives the specifics off all the TAW awards. Here is an example of a Contribution and Leadership Award:
The Distinguished Service Cross existed prior to the 2010 TAW.net website rebuild project. The medal was means of recognizing a member that contributed to an entire division.
This medal is equivalent to the United States Military medal of the same name. The design is stylized, but the ribbon colors and overall design are very similar. Unique to this medal is the 3-star line shared with all other Central Command awarded medals.
The Distinguished Service Cross is one of the highest possible accolades that can be earned by a member of TAW. This medal is awarded to a member that was instrumental in the formation or evolution of an entire division, while holding true to the mission statement and code of ethics. Many consider this medal to be the division level equivalent of the Medal of Honor, and as such should be treated with the similar regard. Members that have earned the Distinguished Service Cross have earned the enduring respect of TAW.
By tradition, if an active member looses a battle with sickness or injury and passes away, they are not awarded the Purple Heart but instead the Distinguished Service Cross and their call sign retired.
"All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope." - Winston Churchill
