Exciting things are happening behind the scenes at TAW as our teams and the rest of the Arma community await the release of the Arma 3 (Beta) phase later this month -- stay tuned to our blogs and forums as the situation develops! We have so many awesome plans we're constructing parallel to the content being slowly released for our game's sequel. It would be a shame if your gaming was relegated to only "Life" or "DayZ" missions! So if you haven't already checked out TAW Arma to take your mil-sim tactics, strategies, and teamplay to a whole new level in missions, we're more than happy to be convincing you over the summer
Also, we haven't forgot about the loyal fans on our Arma 2 public servers: Late last night a new TAW Domination version was released for your enjoyment. Expect all servers to be brought up to speed (to include a new EU server) in addition to any new hotfix versions rolled out as necessary. This new [2.0#] version brings a cohort of new features and changes to continue making your experience on our servers the best possible. Look for our information boards near the parajump flag for a shortened changelog and definitely take a stroll around the base for new toys. A brief highlight video and introduction to the game mode to come in a pending new blog post.
TAW Arma | Tactical focus. Strategic excellence.
For those TAW members who play Arma 2, today is about one thing: the release of an alpha version of Arma 3!
The purchase or invite only alpha will be a first hand look for many mil-sim gamers worldwide. The game's official website (Arma3.com), re-released over one week ago and does a great job of explaining the different levels of access to the alpha; every level essentially being a pre-purchase of the final game.
Today (especially), and over the next couple months, join the members of TAW Arma on our forums, in our TeamSpeak, or through our available live streams as we delve into the early stages of this sequel -- sure to be the first of many chapters and hours of fun we'll all be spending with this game. Who knows, we might even be throwing some free invites out to our most-devoted guests on TAW.net and our public servers as well.
See you on the battlefield!
As active as TAW's Arma Division has been playing Arma 2: Combined Operations -- this involves our usual private, international, weekly coop missions and a handful of events using GunGame, Wasteland, and not to mention constant training opportunities thrown into the mix -- the whole team is patiently growing excited and gearing up (their PCs?) for the sequel: Arma 3 And you can be sure TAW Arma will be on the scene upon the game's launch, ready to extend our 'quiet professional' mood and momentum into this new mil-sim territory.
New information was recently divulged on the games development and you can get caught up on the highlights and discussion over at our Arma Division public forums.
One of our members, JonBons, has thrown together some TAW Arma footage from 2012. The montage features some clips from our own missions and events, and also includes some personal server shenanigans and fun all set to music!
Check out the video in our media thread here.
TAW's Arma Division would like to extend a happy holidays to everyone!
As our gift to you, in this post you'll find a festive wallpaper you can rock on your desktop or mobile device to show off your TAW pride this season.
Several months ago, our unit completed it's 2nd year as a division in TAW. A little known fact is that the seeds for our game were actually planted over a year before we launched out of vanguard when Arma 2 (no expansions) first released, premiering battles throughout the dense trees of Chernarus. That time was also when the modding community was just learning the ropes -- fast forward many years later we now have such pixel concoctions as jungles, nukes, and, of course, how could we forget the "battlebus."
We've Been Busy
If you haven't checked out Arma 2 (or perhaps have already picked it up for DayZ) and you're wanting the rewards that happen when dozens of players invest themselves in large-scale battlefields accompanied by the usual tactics and strategies of war requiring communications and logistics to boot, TAW Arma may be the team you've been looking for. We're still going strong, currently fielding teams devoted to either European or North American time zones; teams who take organized teamwork to a whole new level week-to-week at our private events and who play Combined Operations, ACE/ACRE, or both -- whichever is your preference. While our focus naturally remains geared at internal custom missions our members enjoy, we recently updated one of our public missions. Featuring a new base location and more weapons, vehicles, and combinations of these two than ever before, this mission runs as one of the world's most popular Domination servers. Here you will find a fresh MP experience paired with all the epic experiences and performance you've come to expect and the reasons you filter for "taw". Now, all this has been upgraded with protections to do a better job at preventing random and intentional griefing and teamkilling.
We're tracking current bugs and actively tweaking things with each version of this. Our talent should be able to do a better job deploying updates to this mission seeing as we're not anticipating running into another Bohemia Interactive game update debacle as happened to Arma's entire community this past summer.
A big thanks to our very own TAW_MacKelnuts for his edits and to TAW_JonBons for assisting in our newest take on Xeno's original mission.
Onboarding
If you have recently filled out an application to TAW's Arma Division, please plan to have some extra patience over the next week or so. Our unit (as does most of TAW) effectively goes on break until January 6th, with our own events being optional and many members spending time with family and/or traveling. Don't worry, if you've submitted the application correctly and met all our requirements, we'll do our best to get you into our ranks and trained despite this downtime!

Again, happy holidays from TAW Arma -- be safe and have fun fraggin' into the new year!
Well, it's time for the news most had already predicted and everybody feared.
Arma 3 is now officially delayed until 2013. This news comes as months ago BIS' staff themselves were mentioning a at least a March 2013 release date despite the fact that the image on Arma3.com had been showing a "Coming Q4 2012" in the corner. More details on the game's timeline will be provided at the start of the New Year so stay tuned.
Here's to 2013 and hope that the extra time granted to the game will make it's gameplay and features even better!

This afternoon, Bohemia Interactive Studios released an official patch 1.62 for Arma 2.
Read more here: http://taw.net/forums/p/4879/22549.aspx
UPDATE: This patch was made available and pushed via autoupdate through Steam the next day.
TAW's Arma Division is not accepting applications at the current time.
Interested players who want to join the Arma unit are encouraged to remain up-to-date with our blogs, forums, and servers until notified here when applications will be considered again which we anticipate could take up to a week or so.
The Arma Division continues to undergo several exciting internal changes which are meant to bring current members up to speed and additionally achieve higher standards through enhancements in the overall indoctrination and training (boot camp) process for our newer members. These changes are both exciting and foundational with our members growing more mature and serious than ever with their training and organization, as well as in the anticipation of Arma 3 on the horizon.
UPDATE: Applications for TAW's Arma Division have now re-opened. Thank you for your patience.
We've long been known for the popularity of our Takistan Domination server introduction music. The song though -- as many players know it -- is nothing original. A series called The Unit featured the track called "Fired Up" which was composed by Robert Duncan for use during it's first two (2) seasons. The third season included a different track mixed by Duncan. The Unit show ran on CBS from 2006-2009 and still has quite a loyal following despite being cancelled when no other network leapt to it's rescue; this is most likely attributed from the unique filming and action styles of the show's covert operations storyline.
Listen to this track set to scenes from The Unit here
Ever think the vocals sounded way too much like a military cadence? That's because it is! Robert Duncan's version was actually adapted and remixed from a popular United States Marine Corps cadence titled Fired Up, Feels Good.
Listen to the USMC cadence here (lyrics below)

Do you love our Domination server's intro? Would you love it as introduction music for all of our servers? Perhaps you'd prefer a track that's more... epic? or possibly a TAW Arma original selection that's more seasonal? Let us know (especially if you're a Marine who's familiar with the song!). One of the easiest ways to find all of TAW's Arma servers is to filter the in-game server browser for "taw". This way you will not only see our official TAW.net branded, division-funded servers, but also the client-hosted sessions our members might be playing or testing at the time. The population of these servers vary greatly depending on the time of day. Arma requires a lot of teamwork and quite an investment of time well worth the rewards when you play multiplayer with dozens of teammates from around the world. When it comes to our own events, our Division rarely practices on the public servers because we schedule custom missions developed in-house. Twice a week and for approximately 2 hours each practice, we turn on and off other servers so we can practice privately and have an awesome, exclusive TAW Arma experience!
NOTE: If a server isn't labeled with "TAW.net" in it's name then it's more likely to be a server hosted personally by a member and therefore not subject to TAW's administration, rather, how ever that particular member decides to manage it.
So you can always enjoy our servers, please help support our costs! Donate to the Arma unit HERE

Titled: This is who we are., TAW_NoCents' video portrays the shear scale and variety of all the battlefields TAW's very own Arma Division operates in. Incorporating various units and factions from around the world, Arma features mil-sim gameplay truly worth the attention for it's challenge of realism and military strategy and tactical thinkers alike.
