Vanguard is pleased to announce there will be a spin up meeting for Star Citizen.
It will be held this Saturday at 20:00 GMT in the Vanguard spin up channel.
Everyone is welcome.
Anyone that cant make it that has questions can contact the VG staff.
Thank you
Vanguard Team
Sounds good! Tigerfang will be happy lol
wow, that was fast...nice job tiger.
I just hope we can get something good fixed up so that we can make it the best division in TAW, it has the possibility to bring 500 or so members to TAW depending on how it goes, that is a huge division.
...erm, actually that would be the largest division in the history of TAW. 500 members would break the previous record, held by League of :Legends about a year ago. GL!
Well then its a challenge i accept :)
I am really interested in a Division for this game, but unfortunately I've got something going on for Saturday, is there any VG staff I can get in contact with to discuss it with?
just check who is in vanguard command next time you are on, or just email them on website, you could also post here i guess.
We are up to 11 members in the in game Star citizen Clan so that's a good turn out already, and i know at least 3 more interested but not backers yet.
Not a bad start i must say
I will be there, can't miss this spin up!
wow 12 members so far. i submitted my application.
14 members now, with one possibly returning to TAW for it
I'm pretty sure that SC will never work for TAW for the same reasons that Eve isn't viable. Too much meta game.
That being said, SC is awesome and I have a Cutlass, catch you in the verse
Leum, I suggest you let Tigerfang have a go at it... he wrote a document showing howit could work - it would require a LOT of teamwork, but isn't teamwork one of our foundations?
I have Avenger, Cutlass, Starfarer and BANU Merchantman ;) I think SC in TAW would work.
Thank you for your support Davsank, and yes leum there is A LOT of meta gaming in games like this, but this is not eve, there will be less from what we can see, and so far all we have to work on is a year of watching the forums and talking to Chris Roberts, if we learn how to deal with the meta gamers, then we can stop it, but why would meta gaming not work in TAW, its just rare/never done before, as long as we follow TAW policy or have meetings with the people who we need to, to confirm stuff that could effect TAW policy, and in very rare cases we CAN ask for permission to be a little less rigid due to our game, if its successful enough they may allow it.
Maybe if we can get this setup we can get a very small interview with Chris Roberts, now that would be a nice little bonus for TAW, one of the best game designers in the world :) if we could even get like 30 mins with him for the SZ division later on.
but enough dreaming, there are a lot of variables and i know it will not be easy, but Davsank is right, this clan is based around the principles that make SC the game we want to play, lets make it work, it will require effort but us all, and a much better unit and battalion team work then most other divisions, but that is mostly because other games DON'T need to as much, i hope (with alot of work and some good luck) we will become a game with battalions bigger then entire divisions within TAW.
TigerFang, I don't see the problems you do see. SC is not EVE, EVE division failed due to how game works, how anti taw policy it is, but I see not problem with SC (yet). The fact that it requires team work is actually plus imho, not a flaw we have to "work around", the metagame stuff is not even applicable yet, you are fearing nonexisting fears based on EVE purely because they are both space games?
no fears at all, just pre planning. I was responding to a previous post by leum about how he doesn't think it will work in TAW.
Proper planning prevents piss poor performance
that should be a TAW mantra that we use in every single situation, and i think it really does count in this case, with the research we can do from the posts on the SC forums and by prior planning, it wont be an issue you are correct, and you are right this is not eve, but there are a large amount of SC players posting how they are planning to play the game similar to eve within the mechanics of the game, in the end the game will be a cut down compared to eve but that doesn't mean it wont have similar issues.
I got myself a Freelancer, Hornet Ghost S-type, and Aurora LN. Game is definitely gonna need constant supervision and leadership...but unworkable? No, not at all.
i missed the spin up meeting due to streaming the Quake Wars tourney but i have a lot of interest in this game. How did the meeting go?
I've been around the block in the FPS scape over the last few years. And I've seen TAW work hand in hand with other groups. From what I've seen TAW always kept a independent stance, but that never stopped them from working towards a common goal. I played PS2 from beta/a few months ago. I can say I seen TAW working with other groups to accomplish a common goal.
I also don't think the meta game will hurt TAW. If we are talking Alliances and trade agreements I don't think that would be a overall issue. Forming an alliance can be done on many different fronts. From defense alliances, NAP (None aggression pack) alliances, Trade alliances, and more.
I think this is the best game for TAW in my opinion. Everything is a plus for us. Large scale combat, Required teamwork, asset management, and opens the door to leadership roles and ideas that TAW has never been able to try. It's a new game, a vastly new prospect. Even eve can't compare and I've off/on played that game for nearly 10 years..(wow..lol)
the meta game is a bit more complex then the point you made, its to do with changing the direction of the game in small ways, but other then that i agree on most points :)
This is good news. From what I am seeing it is somewhat ala Eve. As the game gets closer to release, I would be interested in learning more about the game. But I will also say that if TAW gets into Star Citizen, I would submit that TAW should also get in Eve
Well I won't deny it's more complex than I stated. It was to give basic and functional examples of "what" to expect. Of course there will always be situations that we cannot plan for, and that we will have to handle when/if they arise. But I believe we have the ability as a community to work through that, and still fall within acceptable reason.
very true sixthgear, i really hope we can get to that point, it will take along time though due to the fact the game is not even close to release, and avguste, eve was discussed/tried and they decided not to in the end for many reason, there were many factors that made it not possible, this game is closer to eve then most games in TAW but not not really close to it at all in many others, its a very complex mix, think freelancer multiplayer, with perma death and a lot more complex, best way i can describe it at this point from what we know of it.
Yea, If you take eve's meta game and market infrastructure I believe that those aspects are fairly close. I feel that controlling a system, and managing markets will play a heavy role in the game. Honestly, I think this game will help TAW grow going forward. The great thing about gaming, is it's always evolving. As such, TAW and communities are always growing, and adapting to new times. SC is taking gaming to a new area, and I'd love to see TAW jump headlong into it!
in that regard, what was the word from the meetings about this?
Sorry i did not answer sooner but as this thread was about the spin up meeting i stopped watching it, we have already been accepted and have our own division in horizon at this point, message me specifically or come to our channels if you are looking for more information
