It is my pleasure to let you guys know that the Evolve team here in Vanguard still has a couple of staff positions to be filled.
Evolve has shown extensive growth since they joined Horizon. Currently Evolve has 35 members, 24 of those belong to the NA side. Due to Server match making the EU/OC side are in need of some motivated support to fill the ranks.
As they are still a Horizon team, they would not usually be accepting internal transfers from other divisions, however there are a handful of positions that are still open for transfer;
EU
1x SO
1x DI
OC
If you may be interested in taking up one of these positions within the evolve team, or have any questions regarding the team or positions, please contact Sixthgear@taw.net.
A Spin Up Meeting has been set for Star Citizen on Sunday 1st of March 21:00 GMT
If you're interested in this game please come along and join us in the meeting.
The meeting will be held in the VG - *Spin Up Meeting Channel* on TeamSpeak
If you're unable to attend the meeting but would like more information, please contact the staff leader responsible for the unit or any other Vanguard staff.
Star Citizen - Spin-Up Leader Zoloft, meeting 1/03/15, 21:00 GMT (4pm EST)
Welcome to the first edition of the Vanguard Blog.
Starting from today, each month will feature a Blog containing updates on our current units, upcoming units as well as dates for any units launching out of VG.
In each edition we will also cover a specific topic. This could be anything from a specific part of the VG process to something broader (ie. recruitment or event management).
This month we will start by looking at how to bring a new game into Vanguard.
The first step in the process would be to suggest the title to Vanguard Command through our ‘Future Games’ form (found here). This will let us know who is interested within the community, as well as seeing who would be willing to assist in spinning up the unit.
Before a game can be brought into Vanguard there needs to be a show of interest within the existing TAW community. This can be presented through various means, but a forum thread in the Vanguard Discussion and Questions (here) is a good way to go about it or, as described above, by filling out the ‘Future Games’ form
As a general rule, we only accept games into Vanguard that have reached at least open beta stage of development. However, we take each suggestion presented to us, and decide on a case by case basis. Exceptions can be made in regards to games that have not yet reached open beta, if we find that the circumstances permit it.
Once a game has been suggested to us, VG will begin to regularly assess and re-assess the viability of the game. Once confidence in the title has been formed, and a sufficient amount of internal interest has been shown, VG will contact Army Command, presenting information about the game and the playerbase. With the agreement between Vanguard and Army Command, the search for a Spin-Up Leader can begin.
A Spin-Up Leader can theoretically be anyone interested in assisting the start up of the unit, but in practice it is most often someone who has at least battalion level officer experience. Divisional level experience is not required, but it is looked upon highly.
With a SUL identified, and the game released for public consumption, a Spin-Up meeting can be set and the game can officially be added to Vanguard Horizon Division and begin the process of Spinning-Up.
With that, read on to see how our current units are going along. We have updates from all 7 of our current teams;
[DZ] DayZ, [HS] Hearthstone, [INS] Insurgency, [EV] Evolve, [GW] Guild Wars, [WF] Warframe, [HW] Homeworld
For more information on each of our teams, read the upcoming edition of TAW’s monthly newsletter ‘From The Battlefield’. Each of our Spin-Up Leaders have submitted reports from their units and they can be found there.
DayZ
Overall, in the month of January DayZ division gained a substantial number of new recruits, with a very high retention rate. In mid-January, the NA Battalion did an operation that consisted of obtaining every vehicle on the server and moving their way down the coast via a convoy escorted by 20 armed players. The DayZ developer team just released patch 0.53 to stable and everybody is looking forward to the new items, locations, and features that come along with it!
As some additional news from the DayZ unit, Vanguard would like to congratulate them on launching out to 1st Corps at this weekends TFO meeting (22/02/2015).
Hearthstone
Hearthstone gained 18 new recruits in month of January to boosted numbers to over 40 active members. The unit held an open tournament on February 11 with battle.net cards as prizes for the 1st and 2nd place winner. Congratulations to Garylol for winning and jon11881 as runner up. Full results can be found in the upcoming edition of “From the Battlefield”.
Insurgency
This month has been an exciting one for Insurgency. The first half of January, they had several scrimmages with them as the victors. They are currently preparing to split into multiple battalions, and have recently reached tier 2 in Vanguard. They have been steadily bringing in recruits each week and we look forward to what the future holds for them and their place in TAW!
Evolve
Evolve is off to a good start, with a successful recruitment drive bringing in a sizeable number of new recruits. A couple of big names in the community have also joined TAW including a popular twitch streamer. They are planning on entering a few tournaments in the coming weeks.
Guild Wars 2
The unit has had a lot of fun recently with fractles and dungeon runs. We have some particularly active events that happen weekly on monday and friday at 1800-2000 EST. We do anything from guild bounties to fractles to dungeon runs. Swing by and join us one day.
Warframe
For the first time ever a TAW Member won the 1000 platinum draw during a Primetime stream. Please be sure to give your positive feedback (and plat begging) to Flamesoul who has been steadfast in his attendance to Primetime and Developer-Streams for over four months. In Warframe they have been given much to rave about as the game continues to improve in many respects. One thing of particular importance in the past month is the complete revamp of stealth and the introduction of the new stealth quest line. Greater rewards and a splinter cell like feel are just some of the adjustments. If there ever was a patch to remind you that "Ninjas play for free"(TM by Warframe), this is it.
For those who play Warframe and have your own clan or are already part of a clan in Warframe, we are pleased to announce our new Alliance system in place. Convert your whole Clan into a TAW clan. For more information regarding current Clan or Alliance set up please contact KalaniJ.
Homeworld
On the 25th February a new and revamped Homeworld will be launched. If you played this when you were a child then you will not be disappointed by the remastered version. HW has new missions and a whole new way of playing online. It now offers 8 vs 8 and has the ability to play HW 1 ships against HW 2 ships. This game is offering something unique which no other game has done before. Gearbox is giving you the software for free to enable you to make your own MODs and if it gets voted in by Gearbox it will be made a permanent feature for all to download and play. You also have the ability to design your own clan ships. Gearbox are creating a HW 3 so, there is a future for this game within TAW. This game was originally released in 1993 and the sequel in 2003. Spy software stopped the online gaming aspect in 2008. since then 1.5 million have petitioned to get this game remastered and released again as it was so popular back in the day. If this game has the following that it had when it was first released it should go far and be very popular with gamers.
