What's your callsign?
Eifer
Let's get to know you – can you describe yourself in five words?
Helpful, Impatient, Straightforward, Firm. I guess I can be a bit silly around friends too.
Tell us about your history in TAW.
I joined TAW for the Company of Heroes division back in 2011, June 1st and experienced one of the most chaotic times in CoH history, eventually ending up as DO juggling the EU CO and NA CO position as well due to lack of staff. In January the new 2012 the newsletter team reached out to the community, needing writers and a editor and I decided to take up the writers challenge. A few days after that, I transferred to VG for my first spin-up, taking the reins of Tribes-Ascend, and eventually in February being given the STL position for the newsletter. I was offered the Support Lt. Commander position sometime in February, most likely due to my interest in the newsletter and in helping people with website related issues, and was accepted into it by march 17th. At that point I'd been in TAW for about 9 months. Since then, things have been a bit more slow paced which I'm quite grateful for. I've stepped down from SLC and are currently back in Army as the 1st Corps CLC.
What was your initial impression of TAW?
Didn't like them TAW guys much really. Wasn't too fun getting my behind wooped every time I played them ^^ to this day I can't play Steelpact in CoH..
Tell us about your division, and what you do there.
I'm the 1st Corp CLC, and oversee Counter-strike, Company of Heroes, Dota 2 and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Its my job to guide and help the TFO in this Corp with any issues they may have, and mitigate in the event of cross-division and cross-corp trouble.
What would you like someone considering joining TAW to know?
I'd like new guys to know that CC members don't bite... much. Well, not hard at least ;) we are always ready to answer questions and guide people if they need it.
Do you have any special hobbies or activities outside of TAW?
Not anymore. I used to climb some years ago, but I had an accident and got hurt badly.
If you could change one thing about TAW, what would it be?
I've thought about this a few times, and I'm not really sure to be honest. Maybe taking some of the strictness out.
Tell us about some of the people you've met during your time in TAW.
Well. I've met a wealth of people in TAW and It's tough to choose, but I think I'll go with a guy I consider a friend and mentor, Cutthroat, Support Commander. I've always been a bit of a wildcard, a bit too fast on the trigger. Cutthroat is quite the opposite and have taught me a a great deal about patience, which I apply in real life with my work. In OS you get to deal with a lot of unreasonable demands, and quite frankly some very stupid ones too once in a while, and this guy just never budges and always remains calm, which I greatly admire.
What's your favourite thing about TAW?
My favourite thing about TAW is definitely the openness we have. That you are not forced to be "pro" or to play every day.
How does TAW affect your offline life?
What offline life? On a serious note though, It affects me in a positive manner. I've learned patience and to some extend the art of diplomacy! yay!
What might our readers be surprised to know about you?
I work as a youth counsellor for gang afflicted youngsters, and I've climbed for 10+ years.
What's your favourite retro videogame? Why?
Doom! Because it was the first game that introduced 2nd story buildings. And, well.. its doom!
If you could choose any TAW member to be stranded on a desert island with, who would it be and why?
Koto, the DC in Tribes Ascend! Because he is Australian and is used to live in dangerous areas where everything wants to kill you!
Do you admire any celebrities? Why or why not?
Not really. Today's celebrities are nothing to admire really. They forego as a bad example for the current generation.
Who do you believe is going to be the most influential figure in gaming in the next three years?
No clue.
