How AI Lets Gamers Build Their Own Games

Ever wished you could build a custom training map or wave-defense scenario for your squad?

Unless you wanted to waste months learning to code, you were out of luck. Not anymore. A new wave of "Text-to-Game" AI tools lets you build fully playable video games using nothing but basic English chat prompts.

If you want to mess around during an op break or prototype a tactical sandbox, here is what's moving the needle right now.

    1. Replit Agent: The Backseat Coder

    • The short: You chat with a virtual developer who builds the game live on your screen.

    • The sweet: Open up the Replit Agent AI Game Builder and type "Make a tactical 2D shooter where enemies drop ammo."

    • The Magic: The AI writes the code instantly. Want faster sprint speeds? Just type it, and the AI patches the live game.

    2. Spawn: The Co-Op Sandbox

    • (This one is popular in MRC)

    • The short: A 3D multiplayer world where creating the game is the actual gameplay.

    • The sweet: You and your squad drop into a live server on the Spawn AI Game Engine with an AI assistant named Savi.

    • The Magic: Hold Tab and talk. Prompt a fortified base or a wave of enemies into existence, and fight them with your team in real time.

    3. Rosebud AI: The Click-and-Chat Engine

    • The short: A full browser game engine built entirely around an AI chatbot.

    • The sweet: Head to the Rosebud AI Game Creator and describe your world concept to spin up a 2D or 3D project instantly.

    • The Magic: Click on any enemy asset in your game and type: "Make this bot rush the player at 10 meters." The AI handles the math.

    4. Build With Star

    • The short: An ultra-fast, casual text-to-game web platform for immediate action.

    • The sweet: Drop your concept into the Build With Star AI Game Generator to spin up instant prototypes.

    • The Magic: It builds functional 2D web physics games—like ragdoll launchers, idle clickers, or vampire-survivor bullet hells—in roughly 30 seconds entirely from your text prompt.

    5. Astrocade

    • The short: A highly social, casual AI-native playground built for fast arcade games.

    • The sweet: Head to the Astrocade Game Builder and use text prompts to quickly spin up retro minigames.

    • The Magic: You can instantly share your creation to a public social feed or "one-tap remix" existing games built by the community to modify the gameplay loop.

These won't replace our main AAA titles, but they completely erase the barrier between a cool idea and a playable game.

Have you messed around with any AI game gens yet? Drop your custom web game links in the forums—let’s see what TAW can cook up!

    GAME OF THE MONTH

    Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

Tactical Briefing: Hell Let Loose: Vietnam

Prepare to deploy, TAW! Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is an upcoming standalone, hardcore 50v50 tactical milsim developed by Expression Games and published by Team17. Built on Unreal Engine 5, this highly anticipated title drops players directly into the chaotic and brutal meat grinder of the Vietnam War.

Following an open beta that brought in over 350,000 players, the official digital launch has been moved to August 13, 2026, allowing the developers extra time to polish performance, stability, and foliage rendering based on community feedback.

    Key Features for the Squad:

    • Asymmetric Large-Scale Warfare: Dive into massive 50v50 matches featuring the United States Armed Forces clashing against the North Vietnamese Army (NVA).

    • New Tactical Assets: For the first time in the franchise, the US forces can utilize fully operational helicopters for air support and supply drops, while the NVA can construct extensive, stealthy tunnel networks to execute deadly ambushes. Both factions can also dominate waterways using heavily armed patrol boats.

    • Massive Maps: The game launches with six expansive maps based on real historical engagements, including the Thanh Hóa Bridge, Battle of Đắk Tô, and the Tet Offensive at Huế.

    • True Milsim Roles: Master 17 specialized roles across 6 distinct units. The strict chain of command, logistical supply loops, and critical Garrison/Outpost spawning mechanics return to place communication and teamwork above individual kill counts.

Keep your eyes on the forums for upcoming TAW division recruitment and event sign-ups as we prepare to take the jungle by storm this August!
