Vanguard is please to announce we have filled the PIA position, please join us in welcoming Goopy to VG Staff. Goopy has worked in several areas of leadership, with his positive energy and hard work he is a great asset to the Vanguard team. He's worked as a shoutcaster and streamer on TAWtv, covering mainly Overwatch events. He's worked for a long period as an HDI, as well as SO and XO. Welcome to the team "Gumpy" I know you'll serve us well.
The Closed Beta event set to start on Wednesday, Jan 24th, and is to last until Monday, Jan 29th. We have created a channel for this game in the Vanguard game testing channel. Feel just jump in and play.

Vanguard News Train
The Vanguard train is once again heading into the station carrying all the news you want to know.
Last year was exciting and we brought many new games into our fine community. We launched
5 teams last year with a total of 410 members. These games were PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
(PB), Rocket League (RLG), Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), Crossout (CT) and Star Wars
Battlefront 2 (SWBF). Ever wonder if a game has been in TAW before or how many times a
certain game has been tried? Vanguard keeps a timeline that has all those answers and more.

The first sports/car game was launched into Army via Rocket League. We are always looking to
expand the game library that TAW offers and this year will not be any different. Goals for the 2018
year will be launching a sports, fighting, and console games.

Commendation Medals
At the biannual Vanguard All Hands meeting held in late December, the Vanguard staff were able
to hand out awards to some members that have made an impact on the Vanguard unit as a
whole. Congratulations to all on behalf of the Vanguard staff.
FULL SPIN UP TEAMS
Blackwake (BW)
Despite a difficult end to last year which included delaying it’s launch and a staff reshuffle, the
TAW Blackwake team remains resolute and defiant. The beginning of this year they improved
their funds and have been able to get a new server up and running. (great work again Tomamoko).
Going forward they are focusing on recruitment and retention in order to be ready for a potential
launch in February.

Black Desert Online (BDO)
Although this team has been in Vanguard for only 5 weeks, they have exploded in growth and
have just advanced to Tier 2 status. Their leadership staff, spearheaded by Xaust, have quickly
organized the team into a streamlined and aggressive unit. Now that they are in Tier 2, be on
the lookout for their new Wiki and forum pages to develop and provide more information on this
outstanding unit and the Black Desert Online game itself.

Destiny 2 (DS)
We have opened up the main guild to all members of TAW. We originally had 2 separate guilds.
One for the ds2 team and another that held all other taw members. The reason for the change
was the guilds had a maximum limit and we wanted ensure we had enough spots for new members.

HORIZON DIVISION
Avorion (AV)
This team was formed on December 20th and is now in the process of getting organized. Their
main focus right now is staff development and recruitment.

Call of Duty: World War II (COD)
The Call of Duty franchise is one of the longest and enduring first person shooter game genres around.
This year’s game iteration was themed around World War II and is capturing a fairly large market share.
The COD team was formed in October and is in the process of developing the unit into a more
cohesive and functional team. The leadership team is in place and recruitment is an ongoing and
daily process.

GAMES ON THE HORIZON
Far Cry 5
Far Cry 5 is an upcoming action-adventure first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft
Montreal and published by Ubisoft.Initial release date: March 27, 2018
Similar to its predecessors, Far Cry 5 is an action-adventure first-person shooter set in an open
world environment which the player can explore freely on foot or via various vehicles.
The game is set in the fictional Hope County, Montana, where a preacher named Joseph Seed
has risen to prominence. Seed believes that he has been chosen to protect the people of Hope
County from an "inevitable collapse" and has established a congregation called Eden's Gate.
Ostensibly, this is to fulfill his mission of leading the people to salvation; in reality, Seed is a
radical preacher and Eden's Gate is a militaristic doomsday cult. Under his rule, Eden's Gate
has used both coercion and violence to forcibly convert the residents of Hope County, and
intimidation to keep them from contacting the outside world for help. When an attempt to arrest
Seed ends with the deaths of several lawmen, the player is swept into the armed conflict
between Eden's Gate and the remaining Hope County residents, who are organizing themselves
into a resistance movement.
Hell Let Loose
You've never played World War 2 the way it was meant to be played... with lumbering tanks
dominating the battlefield, crucial supply chains fueling the frontlines, being a cog in the machine
of colossal combined arms warfare. Hell Let Loose puts you in the chaos of war, complete with
deep player-controlled vehicles, a dynamically evolving frontline, and crucial platoon-focused
gameplay that commands the tide of battle. This is a simulation of war... not an arcade arena
shooter. On paper, Hell Let Loose is a realistic multiplayer World War Two combined arms first person
shooter of open battles of up to 100 players with infantry, tanks, artillery and a shifting front line.
At its core is a unique resource-based strategic meta-game that is easy to learn, but hard to
master.
Anthem
Anthem is an upcoming online multiplayer action role-playing game being developed by BioWare and published by
Electronic arts. It is slated for a fall 2018 release.
Anthem is an action role-playing game set in an open world environment and played from a third-person perspective in
which players takes the role of a freelancer donning fully customization exosuits called javelins. These suits can be customized
to have various unique weapon and superhuman abilities. Two classes of javelins were shown during Anthem's
presentation at Microsoft's E3 2017 Conference. One was the Ranger, which is an all-around and balanced Javelin,
and the Colossus, which is larger and more heavily armored Javelin made to fill in more of a tanking role.
Life is Feudal: MMO
Hardcore and realistic, Life is Feudal: MMO showcases medieval life on a grand scale. Players
will use survival skills, immersive RPG features, a thriving economy, community building,
diplomacy and warfare to survive and flourish in the unforgiving world of Abella.
Europa Universalis IV
