I must say with passion, disdain, and remorse that Starcraft 2 players need more minerals and gas, yet those resources are not invested in more command centers and refineries!  The deadliest players on the ladder are those who invest early and win (quite easily) in the end.  I learned this the hard way in which I hope you guys can hear me out. No matter how cheesy or aggressive I am in play, and those who know me well know how cheesy I can be, know that it is hard to win without having a good economy. It simply does not work in diamond+ leagues.

So what is the solution? Learn to scout your opponent, invest in economy, and not waste money on army units without a purpose especially at the beginning. I see a lot of players open up with early pools without a good reason to.  In terran lingo, that is equivalent to opening up with 2 barracks.  If terran sees the zerg expoing and not doing much but macroing up, build cc first.  If protoss, go nexus first.  Don't think he cannot defend an early push, it is most likely he can if he's in diamond or masters or knows what he's doing.  If you're playing a lower league scout for early pushes. The majority of lower league players love to open up early.   I love it when I defend an early push then macro to 7 bases to 2 bases and just go in with an ultralisk drop to finish the game.  I like to end games with style rather than quickly.

So what have we learned today?  I knew this quite recently when playing team games that I would carry my teammates often.  I was often questioning myself how can this be when it's 3v3 ends up being 5v3. With me on the team, the army value is three times as much. It shows how powerful army value is when you have enough funds to back it up.  In this case means complete domination.

I totally agree!

Especially as a zerg player myself, when creating units means less larva for drones..

But!

Going macro despite all its goodness, cannot go blindly!

We must scout constantly for the enemy tech / intention to push across the map.

If we see for example protoss massing gateways / terran makine more rax Its a good sign to stop macroing for a bit and start investing in units ;)

Anyway.. being greedy in sc2 is the best mistake you can make, because its easy to learn when to stop making drones and start producing units, than simply build units early and dont have the resources for the late/mid game unit compossition.
