Just gauging the room.
I like the tanks they allow people who are not great shooters something they can use to stay alive long enough to kill someone.Taw is not just a place for great skilled players but a place to make friends and play as a team. The tank as well as other vehicles helps that to happen. After all they (meaning the vehicles all have things to distroy them) ( aircraft-anti air guns) tanks are the same. Just my thoughts.

Honestly, too early to say.
The balance between infantry and armour is different in this game, but I'm not convinced that infantry has truly got its act together yet.
Tanks are, relatively, easy. Roll along, happily blowing things up and avoiding other things that roll along happily blowing things up.
An individual on foot will always be outmatched by a tank in BF1, but I can't help wondering how effective a dedicated tank hunter killer infantry squad could be. I suspect they could be very powerful indeed.
Also, and as a side note, I feel its important to note that WW1 tanks, and the sheer fear they inspired during the first real mechanised war, were the direct inspiration to a chap called Terry Nation.
This is the man who wrote the second story ever for Doctor Who, the man who invented the Daleks.
So, yup.....WW1 tanks are supposed to be as scary as Daleks.

First day of the beta, I went 48-0 with a light tank. At that point in time, almost nobody had the rocket gun. Now that people are unlocking the rocket gun, I find it much harder to do as well in the tanks as I did the first day.

I suspect it'll get harder still.
Probably requiring tanks to operate as part of a team to counter, rather than lone wolves.
I was going to mention the unlocks, but you guys already beat me to the punch. The tanks seem overpowered, but I'm sure that'll change soon enough.
I think teamwork will be the name of the game. Yesterday, Alas, Woods, Slam Focks and myself were able to take out 5 tanks in a match. We had generous ammo and almost lost my voice.
I think against a team of randos tanks would be pretty devastating.
agree, agree, agree with Flamin , Tank are tanks and need to be hard to kill
I think to thing that needs to be nurfed is the horse, OMG it takes forever to kill it.

One thing I dislike about tanks is that they are way too easy to kill.
