I thought I would put a few thoughts down and start a blog. My TAW call sign is jackisadog and I have been a member of Taw for over 18 months. It took a lot for be to become a FL because of my real life commitments. I am a carer for my partner of 17 years who suffers with two distinct personality problems (mental ill health), and which can effect her without warning or can build up over time to explode on the scene like a whirlwind in a box of sharp and pointy things.

i have sort of wanted to move up the ladder and put myself up for promotion but being available for anything other than the mandatory sessions has been a sticking point for me. I do play a lot and I only play H&G (despite my kids adding other free games to my PC like war thunder). The main sticking point is that I have headphones on and my missus only hears one side of the conversation, which annoys her, plus the wording we use annoys her, "Behind hay bales" "left side of C3" "Get on spot" "behind B2 broken house" and A1 this and D4 that etc.

I have been a DI and then HDI and now XO. I am able to go through producteve and my TAW gmail account on a daily basis, and pop into 'onboarding' and have a look around (the temptation to assign a DI is always there LOL). I am slowly finding my way around the duties of an XO and learning my way around the TAW web site (which is like a rabbit warren). All in all, as long as you can give up to a couple of hours a week over the mandatory times we can make playing so much more fun.

TAW has added another side of playing the game and I feel as if I am owning it for myself. I don't think I will ever get the 40 to 5 death kill ratio I see on the score board but I try to keep a positive account. LOL my norm was 30 deaths to 5 kills, so something is getting better but we all have that bad game where we couldn't hit a barn door at 10 paces or always end up in the wrong spot at the wrong time. But being part of the playing back up system, being and playing with friends has helped me to cope better with life outside the game. I use the game as stress relief and to numb my mind from things going on around me that would otherwise overwhelm me.

Thank you TAW.

Hey Jack,

I am proud to have you as my XO you have done brilliantly in all the roles you have been assigned and are a delight to work with.

I have great respect for what you do with your personal life and am happy you are able to share this with your fellow TAW members. As always i am here to talk if you need it and i am sure all members of H&G will be there for you if you need to talk as we are all one big family and if you go we go!
