It's been a while since I did a "deep thoughts" post, but this morning, while I sit here with my morning coffee, brings me to the thoughts of "Servant Leadership". For some people, when I look at them and they say "I'm a Servant Leader", all I can think to myself is ...
Being a Servant Leader is more than just telling people how to do their jobs/roles in TAW. We've all fallen into that pit trap at one point or another, myself included. But it's what we do with our knowledge is what defines us.
Being a Servant Leader in TAW is about putting the needs of TAW ahead of your own personal choices and ambitions. Sure it's nice to have the nice "butter bar" (Lt Rank) or even "The Bird" (Col Rank), but it's more than that, it's more thank the position you hold, it's about a "mindset". The mindset of wanting to do more to help TAW than get that rank or position. If all you're doing is looking for the rank/position, thank you're rank chasing/position hunting, and that my friends, is not servant leadership. But if you want to do your best to help your division grow, to help others succeed, to help your division succeed, than you're on the right path. Don't focus on yourself, focus on what you can do & learn to help make your Battalion a better place and thrive. Because if you're Battalion is succeeding, than your Division will succeed. If your Division is succeding, than it will help your Corps, which in turn will help our community of TAW. It all starts with putting the needs of others ahead of yourself, not the other way around.
For example: Recently I was the SUL of Bless Online Division. When the Division first was brought into Horizon, there was energy like you wouldn't believe. Even with all the headaches and screw ups from the developer/publisher. But that didn't stop some of the members on the team from pushing recruiting and trying to help the division grow. But one of my recruits stood out. Within 48 hours, he went and completed ALL of the EDU Open Learning classes, not because he was looking for a position, but because in his BootCamp we mentioned it to him that the classes were available and he wanted to know more about who was responsible for what. And this was one of our members who pushed on recruiting on Steam and In Game. It didn't take long for me to get approval to promote and train him to a DI, then SO. Both positions, when asked if he'd be willing to step up, he responded with "If that's what you need help with, than sure". I'll never forget those words from him, because it was in the way it was phrased, " what you need help with". Whether he knew it or not, he was putting the needs of the Division ahead of himself. Unfortunately, Bless Online Division closed down at end of July, but I'm happy to see that the same member has stepped up to help a different division in Vanguard and is actively working on recruiting in his new home division. He's willing to learn and does not let "roadblocks" deter him from continuing to push for his division to move forward and be a place where people want to be. He doesn't make it about himself, he makes it about his Division and tries his best to help his division succeed.
The point is, a servant leader does not put the needs of them above the needs of TAW, plain and simple. So if that's not your mindset and you want to help, you need to change your way of thinking. It's not going to be easy, but when you put the needs of TAW above your own, it benefits everyone, not just you.

Good statement. Totally agree with you.
I recently got promoted to PIA for the PUBG division. I am not good in editing and English is not my first language. I am not good in writing blogs, but I am doing my job.
Being a part of TAW means, if you have the feeling, means you contribute, with noone telling you.
I love TAW, already. II am here since november last year, but the community grew on me. I wanna whatever needs to be done for TAW.
Good post Rekon!
My turn, I have returned to TAW something like, 3 weeks ago after I had to drop out a few years ago due to a busy moment in my life. Yet, my time at TAW never faded out of my brain, instead, I missed it here.
Now that I have returned, and looking down on a withered War Thunder Division, I really want to get started to get the guys back on the rails. Gonna be hard work, but that's what I enjoy most!
Remember, being a true leader isn't a choice, it's a lifestyle.
"Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it."
What you say there is all about yourself, read the post that started this

Well said Rekon *applauses* :)
Everything you have stated about the recruit in your post I have thought about you. You are a great leader and this post is great reminder. That leadership in taw isn't about the position it's about helping others.

Just noticed my Signature said Vanguard DC That is corrected now.
Thanks Balan, you taught me well. The member I was referring to now serves in a different VG unit, still making me proud with the dedication he's given his new unit in such a short time.
