Where to start...
I am a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer (hence my player name of NavyChief). I served from 1984 - 2004 (twenty years) at various commands located throughout the Pacific Area of Operations (Third and Seventh Fleets). My tours on combatant ships included the USS Kinkaid (DD-965, Destroyer, San Diego), USS St Louis (LKA-116, Amphibious, Japan), USS Dubuque (LPD-8, Amphibious, Japan), and the USS Wadsworth (FFG-9, Guided Missile Frigate, San Diego). My shore tours included Military Police (Sasebo, Japan) and Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific (Pearl Harbor, HI). My retirement ceremony was held on February 28, 2004 onboard the USS Missouri (BB-63, Battleship) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
My job specialty was an Electronic Warfare Technician (EW). This rating was known as the "Defenders of the Fleet" and our job was to find the enemy ships/aircraft/missiles and render their sensors ineffective while preserving the integrity of our own sensors. Late in 2003 this rating was merged with the Cryptologic Technician Technical (CTT) rating and is therefore gone. Due to my seniority I was able to retire as an EW and not a CTT.
Some of my awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (3), Good Conduct Medal (5), National Defense Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Expert Rifle Medal, Expert Pistol Medal, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, as well as numerous other non-medal awards.
As you can see by my tours, I spent a little over 9 years stationed overseas in Japan. I loved my experiences there and that is where I met my wife. We have two children (daughter-10 and son-13).
I currently work at the University of Texas at Arlington as a PC Specialist II.
I love playing FPS games and have been playing them for over 10 years. My current favorites are Call of Duty (Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops) and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I play Team Fortress 2 a little. I have already pre-ordered Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3.
My second genre would be strategy. I like playing the Command and Conquer series and Starcraft II but have never done so online.
I am looking forward to participating on these forums and becoming a functional/contributing member of this clan.

Wow. Thats impressive service, sir.
I was a Konstabel in the Danish Army, i guess that translates to Private First class or smtg, for around 4 months. Was supposed to be stationed in Afghanistan with my brother, as we voulenteered together, but a knee injury under field trainings, put an early end to that dream.
On a more important note. You mentioned strategy!
I, myself, is a strategy addict.
Everything from RTS (CoH, SC, CoC etc etc) to Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, Total War and so on and so forth!
If you ever get a mind to try out some real strategy games, i recommend Hearts of Iron* and Europa Universalis** Total War series (Napoleon, Shogun2) and Men of War: Assault Squad***
*Its more or less for advanced strat players
**Everyone is able to play it, but the real fun begins when you start to learn all the details.
***Its a bit harsh to figure out in the beginning. The tips and hints are more often than not, shown while in combat etc. But, its fun after getting the hang of it.
