Hey guys,

I am brand new to TAW this week so hopefully will be along to training tomorrow. I am a platinum zerg and thought will post as just read that no-one else is posting Smile

Everyone is saying ZvP is easy nowadays and Zerg always walk it. So I ask the question....Why are they whooping me every time. I am running about 25% win rate on ZvP but both TvZ and ZvZ are over 50%. Last season my ZvP was my best. Bar warp prism buff I am not aware of any changes. Does anyone have any good advice on ZvP?

Do you go swarm host if they go land units on you?

No not the biggest swarm host fan although one of my wins is a swarm host victory. My openings tend to be either ling/baneling or roach hydra infestor (if I have time to get infestors). Late game more ultra than brood lord. Its the colossus, force fields, storms that tend to eat me up. So the splash damage. I understand its position of engagement which is probably getting me as well.

I pretty much always go Zergling and Mutas into Ultralisks then Broodlords, its old but works very well for me.

I don't like 1v1 maps vs Protoss and Terran, because there is almost no time to react to an attack, even if you have a ling to check, you might be able to get a few rounds and some spines, however on larger maps its a little easier.

You can also go zergling, roach and constantly harras if he has gone for alot of bases early in the game, then go for Roach Hydra corrupter infestor vs his deathball.

Its all about harras and not allowing him to get a big deathball, zergling counter attacks when he pushes you, if you have 20 mutas within the 12 - 14 minutes into the game, attack from multiple places.

Thats at least how I do it.

I also feel like Swarm Hosts only work as an early game cheese, and only works on some maps.

You also have to be very aggresive with your expanding and droning, I almost only build army units early in the game if he is going to attack me, also make sure you have a lot of spines if he attacks early, you can also wait with gas to 4-5 minutes into the game.

I am also a plat Zerg that used to have a 20% win in ZvP.

3 things:

1: Always scout with 8th drone. If they gateway expand you'll have your drone there at 14 supply. Follow through with Life's aggressive ling/roach/hydra build. (14 gas, 14 pool, 15+lings, 21 hatch). I win every game with this (Lowko has a video of this online, just lookup "Life Aggressive ZvP")

1b: Scout so you can know if your getting proxy 2 gated instantly

2: Do Roach/Hydra because 1/1 and 2/2 timings can be great early game. If you don't kill them before they have too many collossus or storms your going to want to switch to SH/Corruptor though.

3. NEVER let them get a third.

This has me at 40% now (I lost a LOT of games ZvP lol)

Great advice Hoax. I'm really struggling with Protoss at the moment as well. I shall follow your advice and see if I fair any better than my 15% win rate (2 wins, 11 losses).

I've been trying the two base Swarm host contain but turns out if you drop someones main with a million billion DT's and zealots, they kill everything ever... :P

Just watched lifes aggressive build and looks good. Certainly highlights not waiting for protoss to move out and really keeping them pinned and defending. Will try that in next PvZ
