I think that if you asked someone to join and they said in a few minutes, their spot should be reserved even if someone happens to hop into channel while you're waiting.

Usually anything in multiplayer mode is more demanding, especially when it comes to the CPU and I know that ARMA can be VERY demanding when it comes to the CPU.
