Koto, the Assistant Spin-Up Leader for Vanguard's TA division, has been diligently working to help build TA into a viable division for the players of Tribes: Assend. QuinoaAOC had a chance to catch up with Koto and discuss his plans for the future and his past experiences as a member of TAW.

Tell me how you first got involved in with TAW . . .

Over 2 years ago I was playing in a Left 4 Dead 2 server with Laggyfish, (the current DO of the League of Legends division) who was the DO of the L4D2 division. We were playing well together and he suggested that I should join TAW as an Oceanic battalion had just started up. I was interested in joining a clan at the time so I signed up and within 2 months I was the CO of my battalion at the age of 15, as one of the youngest (if not, the youngest) officers in TAW.

Thinking back, what drew you to TAW?

I joined TAW just over 2 years ago when the Left 4 Dead 2 division was around. I had been in a number of clans before TAW but hadn't been in one for some time at that stage. I was missing the sense of community I had found in my previous clans and when Laggyfish asked if I wanted to join a clan named TAW, I immediately jumped at the opportunity! I didn't realize how much I would enjoy my time in TAW and am glad I got to be a part of this amazing community.

What was your first impression of TAW?

Laggyfish conducted my bootcamp when I first joined, and I remember thinking how strict and organized the TAW community was, which happened to be what I like. All of the members were pleasant and I had a good time in the practices with them. Was also very impressed with the command structure.

What's the best/worst thing to happen since you started working with TAW?

The best thing that has happened since I started working with TAW would definitely be when I was recently made a spin-up leader for the Tribes Ascend division in Vanguard. I know there is a long and difficult road ahead to make this division one of the best in TAW, but that is what will make it all the more rewarding when I help to make that a reality.

What has surprised you most about working with TAW?

I was definitely most surprised that there were 1000+ gamers in the world that could actually be respectful and refrain from swearing. The amount of men and women eager to step up and volunteer their time and effort to increase the size and influence of this community was also very surprising to me, but very pleasing.

How would someone in your division describe you?

How about I ask them to tell you directly!
AndrewKI (a recruit) says: "Koto was the first member of TAW that I had encountered, and he is the spitting image of a TAW member. Helpful, informative, playful, fun to be around, and all in all, just a great guy. He's made my time here in TAW a great one, and i know it will stay that way"

What do you think will change TAW the most over the next five years?

Probably the advancement of technology and new & better games being created is what will change TAW the most. Also the 2 next CiCs will have a strong influence in the change of TAW.

If you could change one thing about TAW, what would it be?

I think it would be neat if it was mandatory for the CiC and other members of Central Command to meet with a random battalion of TAW every fortnight to help create a better relationship between the top and bottom levels of the community.

What are the goals you are still working toward?

I'm starting university next week doing a double degree in Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce-Professional Accounting, my main goal is to complete my course and become a Chartered Accountant to work for one of the big 4 accounting firms in Australia. In TAW, my goal is to successfully spin up the Tribes Ascend division and help make it the biggest and best division in this community.

What do you do when you aren't working or volunteering?

Hanging out with friends, going to youth & church, playing sport, watching TV and being a downright top bloke!

What would you say are some of your strongest beliefs about TAW?

I believe that justice and the truth will always prevail within TAW. I believe that the members of the Central Command would never abuse their authority and always do what is best for the community as a whole

I have worked with Koto for some time now, and having been here for 6 years, i believe he is one of the guys, who not only stand for what TAW is but defend and work toward a new and brighter future for us all.

Great read and comments gents!

Just FYI...There are only 15 or so Central Command members and thousands of TAW members. That makes it hard for the CC guys to do their job and spend time meeting  and greeting. So if you see a CC member jump in and say "Hi" :D They are always open to chat and introduce themselves.

If I was unrespectfull I would snatch Koto in a heartbeat to start up a WT australian division. But as Koto, I like to see Tribes Ascend to be VERY succesfull division. Word of Tanks needs some competition and Tribes is gonna be it!!

@SoonerOKC: you are officially surrounded
