Welcome to the July 2017 edition of the VG newsletter.

 

The previous month has been a busy one for Vanguard as Buubbeli stepped up as VG Division Officer and medals was handled out on our VG All Hands Meeting,. some games had sadly left VG and some new ones had been added.

 

Staff Changes

After interviewing various potential candidates our shortlist was whittled down to just two members. At that time the current VG staff then got together to discuss the pros and cons of each individual.  Whilst it was considered both could do a really good job, it was decided that Buubbeli just edged it and should be offered the position.

 

We are happy to say he has accepted, has recently been transferred over and has already been stepped up and put to work.

 

This would also be a good time to thank all those that have shown interest in the VG DO position and although not successful this time will be considered in the future.

 

To introduce our new VG DO, we took time out to ask him a few questions

 

Buubeli Interview

 

Q1. What is the game that got you to join TAW?

A1.      I joined League of Legends Division, Battalion 3 in 2014. I heard about TAW from an IRC channel #leagueoflegends, where someone said something like “damn, these TAW people are good” so I poked him about what’s TAW and what is he talking about. I sadly cannot remember his callsign, he turned out to be in Battalion 2 so we didn’t have a lot of correspondence in TAW. I spent 1,5 years in LL 3 after which I’ve been in Sentinel (now known as EDU), Paladins as SUL and then DC and now here, as VG DO.

 

Q2 What were your reasons for accepting the Vanguard position and what do you hope to achieve?

A2.    I consider Vanguard being an important section of TAW as every unit has and will go through it. I am excited to be here to bring new games into TAW and help out new possible TFOs on how to lead their unit. I’ll most likely learn a lot of new stuff about TAW and how units can be run. I hope I can help Vanguard to push some great games into TAW and make sure our future TFOs know what they’re doing when they leave VG.

 

Q3 Do you have a game of choice and genre?

A3.     I play a lot of different games and types of games. Lately, I’ve been playing a fair amount of Paladins (for obvious reasons) and I’d still consider it my “main game” for now. If I was forced to pick one genre, it's most likely be FPS games.

 

Q4 Anything else you want to tell the community about yourself.

A4.    In real life I’m an ice-hockey referee, so if you want to have a chat about ice-hockey (or the rules), feel free to hop in. And no, I don’t have a favourite team :).

• Our division is now shaping up really well and we will soon be ready to be launched into army!

 

• The game itself received a patch on 29/06/17 and early testing indicates it has improved frame rate, servers are more responsive and they have added in some small changes to game mechanics that make the game much more enjoyable!

 

 

Rocket League

• The Rocket League division is growing at a healthy rate, as we have dedicated and hard-working members at hand who work daily to provide us with new applicants and pushing our members to their full potential earning badges and training with higher ranked members to achieve success.

• We have set-up a coordinated and focus-minded group of officers who provide; squads, badges and general help to all members throughout both battalions

 

Blackwake

 

• Mandatory event times

  • EU Wednesday and Sunday 7PM GMT

  • NA Friday 7PM GMT

• Since the Blackwake division hit Tier 2, things started to slow down for the game. Which meant a lot more work to make this game a successful spin-up. But now the efforts have paid off and are slowly creeping back to full life alongside the game's progression. Make sure to grab the game up in the steam sale and pop on by for a jolly good ol' time!

 

 

RUST

• The Elder Scrolls Online team has been doing very well and is continuing to grow. Recruitment is remaining relatively high and activity is increasing across the entire team. We also welcome everyone in TAW that owns ESO to come to our events. There are many different and unique events being planned with some offering prizes such as our scavenger hunt.

 

Rising Storm 2 Vietnam

• Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is one of the most tactical, immersive and intense FPS yet. Like its predecessors in the series, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is a tactical first-person shooter that emphasizes large-scale teamwork with realistic mechanics and unforgiving combat.

Albion Online

• Albion Online is a cross platform mmo set in a fantasy world. What makes this game different is that you can play it on your tablet or phone. For this reason, the graphics are not that impressive, but the gameplay is fun and challenging.

• This game is set to launch on July 19th. Their are 3 purchase options and each one has a different start date.

Crossout

• What is CrossOut?

 

• CrossOut is a post-apocalyptic MMO Action game! Craft your unique battle machines from a myriad interchangeable parts, ride them directly into combat and destroy your enemies in explosive online battles!

 

• In CrossOut you build your own machine and then team up with 8 players in pvp or 4 in pve to destroy other machines, while trying to survive their attack. There are a lot of different strats and players so it is fun for all types of players

 

Vanguard Game Testing channel

 

The purpose of this channel is to help VG determine how much interested a game has. It also gives us a place to find other members who play the same game. This channel is right below VG HQ, but above Horizon.
