Battlefield Community Spotlight: JCS

I'm very excited to do this Q&A with you, JCS, so we can all get to know you better. I think you and I joined TAW around the same time and you have always been a constant presence in our Battlefield division; I would consider you a staple member in TAW. I wanted to do this Q&A with you because, first, you're one of my favorite people in TAW, and second, because I think a lot of people misunderstand you and the passion you have for gaming.

One thing I know for certain is you have a good heart and your intentions are always good.

So, let's allow people to get to know you better, shall we?

 

JCS: So formal Doc, it reminds me of when I first start on one of those Pokémon games and how they want to know about you.

DoctorKajita: I'm glad you liked it, but how dare you mention Pokémon.

Q.    What is the meaning behind your TAW handle, how long have you been with TAW and why did you join?

A.    My TAW handle is the initials of my name. I've been with TAW for a little over one year. I joined because I needed people to play and interact with to keep my sanity, lol. It's human nature and we need interaction to survive. JCS is my actual real life initials.

 

Q.    Tell us where you're from and the best thing about where you live?

A.    Not much, it's an urban/rural town and usually quiet. But you don't know heat until you lived in Louisiana, humidity mixed in with it and a lot of it! The city's name is Bossier City. Pronounced Bow-see-er.

 

Q.    What was your first job?

A.    Courtesy clerk at the grocery store.

 

Q.    If you are currently in college, where and what are you studying and why?

A.    To become a network specialist because computers are what I'm actually good at.

 

Q.    What do you do now or what do you want to do after school?

A.    I'm working and studying. I hope to make 80k a year in salary after College.

 

Q.    How do you envision yourself in 10 years? (Career, relationship, family, gaming, etc.)

A.    A job of course, hopefully in the field I'm studying (network specialist).

 

Q.    Why do you play games? What draws you to them?

A.    A good story and the variety, I play MMO, FPS, RPG, third-person shooters, turn-based strategies, real-time strategies, etc.

 

Q.    It's safe to say that you're very passionate and emotional when you play games. You are one of the most vocal members in TAW, which when you first joined could be viewed as distracting, as much as it was amusing. I think you have actually made a lot of strides in the way you channel your passion. You don't rage as much as you did when you first joined, which shows how much you have matured. What have you learned being in TAW that has allowed you to still retain your passion but not let that be a distraction to others?

A.    I don't know, I guess I just got tired of saying the same old thing and decided it wasn't that big of a deal.

 

Q.    I know that you mentioned you'd like to be a squad leader (SL) for one of our internal match campaigns. I think you'd make a great SL and actually, a great platoon leader (PL). Do you think this is something we will see in the near future with Battlefield 4 (BF4)? What are some other things you'd like to accomplish in TAW?

A.    I'd like to continue to rank up and take on leadership roles, but at a reasonable pace.

 

Q.    A lot of people who play Battlefield enjoy the wide-open gameplay, strategy and tactical vehicle use. And I'm sure you appreciate all of that. You and I have had some pretty exciting moments on a 64 player Metro Conquest meat grinder in Battlefield 3 (BF3). What aspects of Battlefield, and Battlefield 3 in particular, do you enjoy the most and why?

A.    The freedom to choose, but not when other players choose to play the same class and use the same (try hard) weapons over and over. Also the other thing I enjoy about BF...one word: knife.

 

Q.    What are you most looking forward to in BF4 considering that the membership count may be close to 250 to 300 people?

A.    People being on all day. One is the loneliest number and two can be as bad as one.

 

Q.    What are you most concerned about in BF4?

A.    DICE and EA's decisions. Hopefully they highlight what's made the franchise good over the years and not introduce things that will take away from the positives.

 

Q.    What is your best experience in TAW? What can be done to replicate it?

A.    My favorite thing is just hang out with the various members.

 

Q.    How would you describe Battlefield?

A.    All you can eat! Bullets and chaos in any environment.

 

Q.    What is one thing DICE could do to make Battlefield better?

A.    Hurry up and release BF4!

 

Q.    What is one thing TAW could do to make Battlefield better?

A.    I think team balance is always the number one priority, so that's one area where I think staff could continue to emphasize.

 

Q.    What are some of your other hobbies or interests outside of gaming?

A.    Computers in general, have played guitar, and have built model rockets.

 

Q.    If you could live anywhere in the world besides your birth place or current location, where would it be and why?

A.    Colorado because when I went there on vacation I thought the landscape was amazing, just different and peaceful.

 

Q.    What is one thing that many people don't know about you?

A.    I believe I'm actually the only person in TAW from Louisiana.
