New Battlefield 4 Campaign—Tides of War 4: Operation Phoenix
Last season's Tides of War 3: Breaking Ground re-introduced the traditional board game format that determined how teams advanced towards victory on the Battle Map, a staple of how TAW structures campaign-style tournaments centered on the Battlefield series.
The "new" format played out well and provided the needed substance for a deeper game play. We had the best member engagement / attendance since Battlefield 3. In this sense, last season achieved what it was supposed to, which was to provide a proven foundation for how future Tides of War campaigns should be created.
Nonetheless, the Battlefield North America Battalion (BF 1) staff was able to identify a number of opportunities to improve upon for this season—Tides of War 4: Operation Phoenix—while maintaining what was done so well.
TOW4 has been tweaked so both teams will have more ways to advance on the Battle Map for a more fluid campaign experience. Tides of War 4: Operation Phoenix will include some of the following key changes:
- Economy Introduced
- Fog of War on Battle Map
- One Team Attacks Twice per Night
- Commander Assets Tiered and Purchasable
- Hard Match Start Time Set
- New Territory Types
- Designated Fireteam Leaders
With these changes, we expect there to be more thought and collaboration put into game planning and even better member engagement than last season. This season is intended to emphasize a deeper element of strategy so that all members feel they are playing towards a collective goal.
Lastly but certainly not least, we are excited to bring back TAW Platoon Leader (PL) veterans, Cekay and DemonPlague, both of whom squared off against each as PLs in Battlefield 3's Battleline campaign. In their last stint as PLs, they were unexpectedly killed off half way through the season. Several seasons and a new game later, they have risen from the ashes to proudly lead their teams to victory again.

4 commentsThis is such a cool concept, and a really creative take on the extended campaign. Nice work!
Thanks for your comment, Zoloft! It was a lot of hard work put in by our FS, Witness, and CO, Colt. Of course, the rest of the battalion staff had a lot of input, too. It was a lot of fun planning it and we're excited to see how it plays out.
Looking forward to getting this campaign started!!
Thanks Doctor Kajita for writing this up. I am very privilege to lead this campaign. I can not wait to see the out come of the season! Also I want to welcome all TAW members that have BF4 to join us on Thursdays and Sundays at 9 PM EST. Long as it does not conflict with your mandatory practice.
