Real-Life Tips

We are back today with our Tip of the Week! It is a new year and lost of great content will be coming your way! This week we are joined by SGT Blockhead:

This post isn’t going to be about in-game it’s about you IRL. Because if you can’t move your hands you can’t shoot. Slow reaction times and poor aim can very easily be attributed to your body being out of balance. So here is my tips so that your body can never be an excuse, only that your bad*.

1) Eat before you play. I don’t mean eat an entire meal before each game. Just check and see if your a bit hungry, then maybe grab a quick snack. I recommend apples with peanut butter, carrots with peanut butter, or maybe a bagel with peanut butter. Heck you could even just have peanut butter! The point is your body needs fuel and if you're hungry that is your body telling you in needs a refill.

2)   Drink water. Blockhead recommends drinking two Liters of water a day**. It’s the same reason you drink water while working out. Except with gaming it is a lot more subtle in that you are not sweating it out. Staying hydrated will really help your focus, concentration and reflexes when you need to hit that killer awp flick

3)  Stretch before you begin. Playing video games can be taxing on your wrist and hand muscles if used for long periods of time. Just like you wouldn’t want to run a race without stretching you wouldn’t play video games for hours without stretching. This video has some great stretch ideas to start with, but if you need more google is your friend. (This guy says a lot of buzz words, so ignore what he says and just focus on the stretches) You see a lot of professional games suffering from wrist and hand problems. You, as a normal pleb, don’t play as much as they do but it’s still good to take care of your body so that you don’t have problems down the line.

4)  Final tip! Take a break. If you go on a losing streak stop playing. If you're on tilt you will be less likely to hit those clutch shots and every mistake will make you feel worse. Even if you’re winning, take a break after games. Stand up drink, some water, go to the bathroom, do something to break up the games. Do some stretches, especially after a loss it will help you get back into the best frame of mind.

* You could be better after training lessons with blockhead

** Blockhead is not a doctor and should not be taken for one. A simple google would have found the answer but he was way too lazy

And there you have it! These are my tips to play better by making sure your body is ready. If you have any suggestions for me, whether how to write better or ideas for the next training tip please email me or message me on teamspeak. Hope these help you win one more game than you normally would.
