Operations support has been working on refocusing TAW's social media presence inside twitter. Now this may not sound like a big deal, but it really is. What this does is it provides a great information gathering tool as well as a new outlet to the world for a public eye.

While this all sounds great in theory, what does it mean?

Well it means for officer rank members in the units they can use the accounts to follow the developers of the game allowing us to get news sooner than when the company posts it to Facebook(often by 3 hours), insight into the developers thoughts themselves, and a chance to convince more developers to come onto Teamspeak and talk to us personally by building a good reputation with them. It will also allow them to watch the community and pick out highlights for laughs, new things to try, and tips and tricks they might find.

Of course this is great for information gathering, but for giving TAW a bigger view in the public eye Twitter allows us to tweet to the communities of the games and let them know if we are holding any public events or practices on our servers and to let them come join us in our always fun games.

So this way we can get more people and a better chance to learn and talk to the developers of the games directly!

Of course this all comes with some restrictions(read: RULES). They are as follows:

  • Posting to twitter is to be done by an officer of the game/unit/corps only

  • Officers can post on the behalf of members

  • All posts to twitter must follow TAW rules and guidelines for a forum post on TAW.net

  • All posts must contain your 3 letter signature(example: skatcat becomes cat, deadXon becomes dxn

  • To setup an account, email OS for approval or to have one generated for you (skatcat@taw.net)

  • You are only allowed to post to your units respective twitter(posting to another division or units twitter is punishable by losing access to TweetDeck)

  • If posting from a personal TweetDeck(contact OS about setting up), make sure you don't post anything you post to other social media TweetDeck allows you to post to

  • All subscriptions added must adhere to TAW content policy(PG)

  • OS reserves to right to revoke access of members and officers at anytime for reasons that will be outlined in response.

Any and all questions and information regarding TAW's twitter accounts should be sent to skatcat@taw.net. This is a great recruiting tool to let the outside world know what TAW and its divisions are up to. If you are familar with twitter and want to help promote TAW in your community, we'd like to hear from you!
