Minecraft is a diverse and never ending game. From playing alone to multiplayer, building to PvP there are hundreds of ways to enjoy the game, one way we in the Minecraft division like to enjoy the game is by playing mini-games, some of which are created by members outside of TAW. One of the many games we like to play is called Eris created by Jeven and on Sunday April 6th 2014 we were lucky enough to have him visit a Minecraft practice event to play his game with him!

Eris is a lane based, one sided attack defence map meaning it has a team of attackers and a team of defenders all focused on one point in the map. The attackers have to cross an expanse of land filled with obstacles while under fire from the defending team, if they can pass all that they then have to destroy one block in the defenders core while breaking down more defences and dodging enemy fire to win the game. Sounds almost impossible, right?

While the game is challenging, it is not all about the PvP, there is a great mental challenge trying to think of new ways to both defend the core and to get it! And trust me when I say every game provides a new and unique way to both attack and defend! Attackers and defenders don’t have to stick with the basic ideas though, through the use of classes including archers, demolition experts and melee fighters to construct elaborate plans, devious traps and the ultimate in Minecraft siege weaponry, TNT Cannons!

The event was held on the TAW Minecraft servers with most of the Minecraft and the map maker Jeven in attendance. The event ran smoothly with multiple games of Eris being played on multiple servers. Jeven also played with some of the members on a server, playing in both attacking and defending roles! After the event, Jeven took some time to answer a few questions posed to him from the Minecraft battalion relating to the game, the behind the scene machines and how the game came about.

Keep your eyes peeled for videos and the audio recording of the event coming to the TAW YouTube Channel soon!
