Devops - We are looking for you for TAW 3.0
TAW 3.0 the future of TAW
Hello from all of us in DEVOPS
As some of you may know, development operations are developing the new TAW 3.0 website for you all to enjoy, we have been working on the website for some time now, and have made good progress in its design and coding thanks to the great team we currently have.
At this time we have a good start to the site, but we have a long way to go and so we are looking for people to help us in our task to create TAW 3.0, this is where you might come in.
Devops are looking for people with experience in one or more of the following technologies

Thank you :)
The reason we are trying to replace the current site is it has lots of old standards and stuff that we cannot do much with, and it was not really designed to be as fixable as we would like, the plan for the new one is more readily upgradeable and newer tech to run it, so it will actually work and be more responsive :) and allow for much more intergration because of the new tech being used.
I recall how long it tool 2.0 to get here... there were many false starts, there were many serious efforts from 2004-2008 and it took the iron will of Icarus to drive it to completion. Has anyone in OS considered totally outsourcing this to avoid the extra long development cycle, also since we are mainly gamers and not web developers? Seems like there are some lessons available from the 2.0 experience. Either way, best wishes in your endeavors. Not trying to be a negative nancy, I just haven't been part of the 3.0 discussion.
In answer to Fox, yes we have spent some time exploring the option of outsourcing a bit and so far even just a few of our unique customizations / requirements made the costs of development astronomical.
Looking forward to this guys, I am no coder but i could be a helpful tester let me know
As supertreky already said we did look at options both as OS and devops, but yes the cost for our website, which is highly customised, would be huge, that and even if it took us years, keeping it in house has alot of major benefits, we will have the long term ability to update and fix and work on the site as needed, if we did outsource we would either have to keep paying for the outsourcing on a long term basis, or we would have to take their code in house and try to understand what they have done, which is not always easy, We had a few false starts before i joined devops, and we have had some since, thats the way things go with a project of this magnitude, but overall i think we are on a good path right now.
We just need more bodies in devops capable of coding, but that being said, even if it takes us years from this point, as long as the team we have and any one that joins us keeps at it and sticks together we have a chance to make somthing great that all of is in TAW can be proud of.
I have faith that TAW can do any thing it puts its collective minds too, eventually. It wont be easy but i intend to see it happen, but only time will tell.
Thank you Tbone, we will need testers in the long run once we get to somthing more resembling and alpha release product, when that time comes i will be asking people who would like to help, to step forward.
Once it gets to that stage ill get in touch about testing :)
Maybe add a photo gallery to web?
Once the front end is ready, then we will consider making some form of gallery, at this point its not ready for public show, but in the future i see no reason not to. :)
