On The Horizon: November 2018 Edition
Welcome to November’s Edition of On The Horizon. On The Horizon, is a monthly blog that focuses on select games Vanguard is interested in spinning up. This month's list of games features some newer games with a mix of some older titles.

Grand Theft Auto V is the first game to tear it’s way onto the VG Horizon List. Grand Theft Auto V is an action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. The game is played from either a third-person or first-person perspective and its world is navigated on foot or by vehicle. Players control the three lead protagonists throughout single-player and switch between them both during and outside missions. The story is centered on the heist sequences, and many missions involve shooting and driving gameplay. MapleStory 2 is also on the list this month. MapleStory 2 is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game. The game takes many of the features of the original game, MapleStory, and applies them to a 3D voxel-based environment. Ironsight is a new First-Person-Online-Shooter awaits you with futuristic warfare and the most innovative weaponry & drone systems. If anyone is interested in helping this team to be a success in TAW, contact any of the Vanguard staff.
World War 3 is a multiplayer military FPS set in a modern, global conflict. Join the fight in massive infantry battles, gain advantage over the enemy with personalized weapons, vehicles and drones. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a Western-themed action-adventure game set in an open world environment. It is played from either a third or first-person perspective and the player controls Arthur Morgan, an outlaw and a member of the Van der Linde gang. The game features both single-player and online multiplayer components.
The game brings back and deeply refines mechanics from the previous game, such as the combat, gunplay, honor system and more. It also has many new features, including dual-wielding and swimming. RDR is currently not available on PC, but there are a lot of indicators showing we may see this game on PC in 2019. As it stands, we're going to do this a little diifferent with RDR, we're bringing this in on PS4 and XBOX (yeah I know, crazy right?). Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is an online action-shooter RPG experience, where exploration and player progression are essential which will be coming March of 2019, but that doesn’t mean we don’t already have our sights set on it.

Destiny 2 is an online-only multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie and published by Activision. It was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2017, followed by a Microsoft Windows version the following month. It is the sequel to 2014's Destiny and its subsequent expansions. Set in a "mythic science fiction" world, the game features a multiplayer "shared-world" environment with elements of role-playing games. Like the original, activities in Destiny 2 are divided among player versus environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) game types. In addition to normal story missions, PvE features three-player "strikes" and six-player raids. A free roam patrol mode is also available for each planet and features public events as well as new activities not featured in the original. These new activities have an emphasis on exploration of the planets and interactions with non-player characters (NPCs); the original Destiny only featured NPCs in social spaces. PvP features objective-based modes, as well as traditional deathmatch game modes.
Players assume the role of a Guardian, protectors of Earth's last safe city as they wield a power called Light to protect the Last City from different alien races. One of these races, the Cabal, led by the warlord Dominus Ghaul, infiltrate the Last City and strips all Guardians of their Light. The player sets out on a journey to regain their Light and find a way to defeat Ghaul and his Red Legion army and take back the Last City. Like the original Destiny, the game features expansion packs which further the story and adds new content and missions. Year One of Destiny 2 featured two small expansions, Curse of Osiris in December 2017 and Warmind in May 2018. A third, large expansion, Forsaken, was released in September 2018, beginning Year Two with an overhaul on gameplay. The base game and the first three expansions were packaged into Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection.
Yes, once again, we are looking at giving Destiny 2 another chance here in TAW on the PC. One of the most notable things that has happened with this game is that the base game is Free on Blizzard's website until November 18th, so act fast to get it.. The expansions are reasonably priced as well.

Hm, hopefully Destiny 2 gets its second chance. The new Forsaken expansion is, by most accounts, quite good. Game's in a good place now, with another major content update next month. TAW still have its in-game clan made already (but inactive now), I think.
