Star Wars Squadrons - Interest Blog

Star Wars Squadrons, developed by Motive Studios and published by EA, is a space combat game, set in the Star Wars universe.

The game is set after the events of Return of the Jedi, and allows players to play as pilots in both the New Republic and Galactic Empire navies, as they alternate between both sides perspective, meeting iconic leaders and locations, and trying to make a difference in the war, to establish dominance over the galaxy.

Players will be able to control any one of 4 different available ships, with the Galactic Empire having the Tie Fighter, Interceptor, Bomber and Reaper. The New Republic pilots will have the X-Wing, A-Wing, Y-Wing or U-Wing at their disposal, with each complementing a playstyle the player may seek to chase. Players will also have to properly utilize the movement of power in their ships between 3 different functions, weaponry, shields and engines, in order to defeat their opponents in combat and proclaim victory.

The game will feature a campaign, and two multiplayer game-modes on launch. One being the traditional dogfight mode, wehre players will play 5v5 battles, and attempt to win over their enemies, using their custom load-outs and ships to claim glory.

The second game-mode is called Fleet Battles, tasking players with tipping the scales in large fleet battles, which will be mutli-stage and objective based. Teams will advance their frontline by destroying the enemy and making successful bombing runs on the capital ships, all while protecting their own as well.

Players on PS4 and PC will also be able to fully enjoy the game in VR, and PC players can rejoice, for HOTAS control is supported! The game will also support hudless immersion, allowing the best of the best to play the game, as if they were in the very cockpits of those ships!
