Q.) Can you please start by giving us your rank, name, and division/position?
TAW_Beercrazy (Beer)Staff SergeantGhost Recon Division.position...joker of the squad :)Q.) Thinking back, what drew you to TAW?Well, I spend a lot of nights at home alone. One night I met some players online, I liked their playing style, and they liked mine. Next thing I know I was invited into the TAW teamspeak, asked if I would be interested in joining and then it began...Q.) What was your first impression of TAW?
My first impression of TAW was that it seemed a lot larger than I had expected. Honestly thought it was a few guys/gals playing a game. I had no idea how large and how organized it was. Being a fire captain for the largest fire department in California, I like the team aspect, and chain of command...Feels like home.
Q.) Tell us about the people you have met in TAW.
Every member of TAW that I have spoke with, gamed with, or had interaction with have ALWAYS been very helpful, professional, and team oriented.
Q.) What's the best/worst thing to happen since you started working with TAW?
I'll start by saying nothing personally. The worst thing is I cannot always make the practices. I feel very strongly that there is life outside of the computer gaming world. Real world events take place in my case saving lives and property and raising a son. I would very much like the upper ranks to consider making reserve squads for those who would take the time to put in and stick with but cannot make the commitments to the mandatory practices. I have lost teamates because of this that were great people and its sad they couldnt stick with us. They were dedicated but time constraints caused their dismissal. Other than that its been awesome.
Q.) If you could change one thing about TAW, what would it be?The change I would make would be to creating, implementing and activating reserve squads for those that want to play and are dedicated but have too much in real life going on to play all the time.
Q.) Who are you outside of TAW? What do you do in your life?I am a Fire Captain with Cal Fire. I have been in the fire service now for over 20 years. I am a single father of a terrific son. I am into motorcross, team roping (on horses), hunter, shooter, and kind of an extremist in the sense of adventure. I am definitely an "A" type personality.
Q.) The interest in TAW seems to be growing Why do you think that is?
I feel
its the sense of command presence. Without it you will not ever have a
group of tight people. Leadership is essential. You cannot
however dictate, but you must work side by side and
LEAD.
I think the word gets out because of our folks, such as myself
actively recruiting people that we see as good matches to our
squads.
Q.) What would you say are some of your strongest beliefs about TAW?
Professionalism, dedication,
teamwork, respect, and for gaming purposes...WE DON'T CHEAT, even if someone
else around us is. That too me is a very important aspect. If
someone inside TAW is found to be cheating, breaking our rules of
engagement, they are discharged. The act is researched, discussed and a plan
of action to discharge, council, is always in place when it comes to
cheating or grumblings between the troops.
Q.) Where do you see yourself and TAW in 3 months? 6? 1 year? 5 years?
Q.) Where do you see yourself and TAW in 3 months? 6? 1 year? 5 years?
Well, that is a tough question for me. In three months, the next 6 I see myself actively participating as much as real life allows. As for a year to five years, its hard to say. Given the outside aspect of life and my job I cannot truly forecast this. I can say that I would like to see myself still active. It would like to say I will still be a member. We have had 70 year old members in TAW. That to me personally is phenomenal that a guy that age or in his 60's finds himself online gaming with a group. If I am not a member of TAW in one to five years, it is only because real life took a direction that doesn't allow it, not because of any reasons internally within TAW.
