This month in Vanguard.

In the staff: DENIED has joined Vanguard as a secondary American Regional Officer to assist TheGame. We are happy to have his recruitment and organization skills on-board. Vanguard is looking for  European & Oceanic Regional Officers and a new Division Officer. If you are interested please email Feanor@taw.net or just come down to VG in teamspeak and talk to us.

From the trenches:

August saw VG get mostly emptied out as its last few groups launched to full division status. Once again VG would like to congratulate World of Tanks and Homefront for becoming full TAW units, as well as the fine leaders in these groups paving the way for TAW's future.

Recently TAW was introduced to Horizon Teams as a new type of unit within Vanguard. The purpose of the Horizon teams are to get an early recruitment presence on major game title releases before they get published. Vanguard saw Red Orchestra 2, Battlefield 3, Star Wars The Old Republic and Call of Duty 8: Modern Warfare 3 become the first Horizon Teams in TAW's history. As of now, Red Orchestra 2 has launched to full VG unit status and is joined by a new game, Nuclear Dawn.

Nuclear Dawn is a new approach to gaming. It combines Real Time Strategy with the classic First Person Shooter gameplay. The game format is 16 v 16 with a commander on each side playing the RTS game and providing over-watch and command for the whole map while their soldiers fight it out.The game is MAC, Linux and Windows compatible. It also supports user-end dedicated servers, custom map/mod software for user-generated maps & mods, in-game VOIP and many other awesome features. The game is a mix of infantry, vehicles and RTS gameplay. This is a true gamer's game and should provide an excellent home to many current and future TAW members. The Beta began August 25th and the VG unit is accepting new applications and transfer requests. If you are interested in transferring to Nuclear Dawn, email your Division Commander.

Red Orchestra 2's Beta launched earlier than expected on August 31st. Already the user-end server files have been released and the game looks fantastic. With 64-player servers, user-end dedicated servers, custom map & mod software for the community, in-game VOIP and many other features, this too, like Nuclear Dawn, is a big competitor for this fall's computer gaming market share. Unlike Nuclear Dawn, which is futuristic warfare, Red Orchestra is set in World War 2 during the battle for Stalingrad. The game is a mix of vehicles and infantry and will ship with 10 maps to start with, though several community created custom maps and mods have already been completed. The Beta began August 31st and the VG unit is accepting new applications and transfer requests. If you are interested in transferring to Red Orchestra 2, email your Division Commander.

On the Horizon:

Battlefield 3's Beta is rumored to start in early September, and the VG staff is keeping a close eye on this blockbuster. Bravehardt has been leading Horizon Team meetings on Sundays and Wednesdays. These are open to all TAW members, even if they are not members of the unit.

Star Wars meetings continue with Hook. Come learn the secret to MMO's revival within TAW as we plan to shape and form our plan for this amazing game.

Call of Duty is still looking for recruits. Come help ChicagoOne build up TAW's division for the next installment in the world's biggest FPS franchise.

Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 still have no release dates, but we are keeping an eye on them.

Other games TAW is looking at: Space Marine, Blacklight Retribution, Ghost Recon Online, War Inc., End of Nations.

If you are interested in bringing a game to TAW, then email Feanor@taw.net
